A Shotgun Wedding...Or So I Thought

Adrian.
Father.
It's just a word isn't it. The importance of that word cannot even be described in a thousand years. I was more than proud of being a father, I vowed to myself that I would never be the man who raised me. Who thought only he could be right.
I knew Cassie's mother was raised Hindu, and an unwed mother would not suit the lady. Not only would the woman castrate me, Cass would have to go through a brand new hell phase. Cass got her devil may care attitude from the lady of course.
I went about the whole morning trying to impress Dr and Dr Black. Let me tell you, that isn't easy. They're very good at what they do. Impressing them would involve a real feat. Even catching their attention was a big deal.
But when I went there all prepared for the big showdown, I was pleasently surprised to find Cassie's  mother at our house. Yes, I had shamelessly moved in with Cass since I had met her. I'll admit my house was bigger and fancier, but hers was home. I'd go wherever she would and without question.
Dr. Black was furious. She had wanted to hold Cass by the ear and scream at her. But I was going to prevent that event. Not only was Cass emotionally torn, she was also physically tired from all the stress that she had been taking for almost a half a year now.
When I tried to put that across I got a very prompt, " I am her mother Adrian, I would not appreciate you coming and teaching me how to talk to my kid. She's my daughter first. Do you understand me clearly." To which my beast responded with a growl. Dr. Black looked at me very curiously, and then proceeded to go to the bedroom. I went in after her, to stop her, when I found the bed empty and a note on the pillow.
Dr.Black turned to me, hands on her hips, and she said," Adrian, where is my daughter? Why is there a note on the bed that says she can't deal with her news and she needs time? What is this news? Is she pregnant? Is it yours? And if so why isn't she married yet??"
She said this very politely, but I could see the undercurrent. If I wasn't to give answers correctly, she would throw me to the wolves. Literally.
" Ma'am, yes she's pregnant and the child is mine. And as far as the marriage goes, I will be asking her tonight, I had made special arrangements...."
I got cut off with the loudest, what the fuck I'd ever heard. I went out alarmed, and I had Cass's knife in my hands.  I went out to see Cass herself and she'd heard the part where I was going to ask her to marry me.
" Nonononnonono!!! You're not doing this just for the child. I need to know you're going to stick around, and not hate me for it. I already put you through a lot of hell, and didn't you hear, our real fight hasn't even started yet. Who knows who else is after me because of this shit. No way Jose. Forget it!!!"
Momma Black turned around to Cass, and she was livid. For a moment I thought I'll have to protect Cass from the oncoming onslaught, but then again, these two women never fail to surprise me.
She ran to Cass and hugged her tight, and kept saying sorry in her ears. It was a very touching scene, let me tell you, only thing wrong with this picture, was a very angry Daddy Black, walking in and holding both women, in his arms for two minutes exactly and then proceeding to yell at Cass.
Around fifteen minutes later my beast began to rear up because he felt his mate was under threat. What happened next could not have been controlled. I completely, totally, one hundred percent lost it. But thankfully, before I could rip somebody's head clean off of their bodies, Cass acted my protector again. She directed Momma and Daddy Black towards the door and out of her house, under the pretext of taking a walk. Convenient for me, let me tell you. I was pretty much planning on doing that myself so I would get some time to set up something romantic. Now I knew Cass wasn't the conventional romantic, but she was my romantic. And I knew what would make her happy.
I cleaned up the entire house, and set up the PlayStation to play Call of Duty. I found her brain drain cards and set them up to play over for dinner. It was easy pleasing her. All I had to do was get her brain running. Nothing made her happier. To end and polish off the night, I was going to make it a steamy session of strip poker, a shower and some more well, stripping.
Alas, of all the plans of mice and men, when Cass came back about an hour later, she looked quiet. I knew that girl since I knew what a girl was. In my opinion, she's always had this, nervous energy about herself. She was always on the move. Constantly thinking. Planning. Plotting. Or plain brain gymnastics. But never quiet. I couldn't hear her anymore, which got me worried, enough to go up to her and ask her why and what.
She only gave  me a look as she said," They were right the battle hasn't even begun yet, because the small bombs are dropping now....."
"What do you mean, Cass, what happened in the park??"
"They shot at my parents, they died on the spot, there was no chance or way for me to save them, I'm officially an orphan now, Adrian."
With that, for the first time in the 18 years that I knew her, Cassandra Black broke down and cried, and kept crying till she could no more.
