Three: Auradon's Secret

The big limo comes to a stop and Mal gets out.
"Hey Pandora." She says.
"Hey Mal, why did you come back?" I ask.
"Because I found out Ben used magic to ensure that we wouldn't pick your application. I don't think that's fair so I'm here to offer you both acceptance to Auradon Prep." She says.
"Really?" I ask.
"But Celia Facilier took my place." Harry points out.
"I don't care. I want you both to come. So pack up and come back in an hour." Mal says.
"Thank you so much Mal!" I say smiling. Harry and I turn to walk home.
"This is exciting right Harry?" I ask. He nods as we walk back to the treehouse to grab our stuff.
"Yeah sure." He says.
"Come on lets at least see what Auradon is all about. Maybe we can figure some things out." I say.
"Good point." Harry says. We collect what little we both own and head back to Mal.
"Hop in." She says. We get into the limo. I immediately notice all the candy and junk food in the cabin.
"Look at this Harry! It's so colorful!" I say. Harry laughs.
"It's candy Panda. Try some," he says handing me some hard round things. I pop one in and it tastes sweet.
"That's chocolate." Mal says.
"I've never tasted chocolate before!" I say. Harry and I watch as we enter Auradon.  We reach the school. It looks more like a castle than a boarding school. Evie, Carlos, Jay, Uma, Gil and a few others stood in front of the school. Harry and I hop out. Uma runs over and hugs me.
"I'm so glad your here!" She says. Then I look at Gil.
"Before you hit me I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was leaving. I wasn't thinking straight." He says coming up to me. I look at Uma, then at Mal, and finally at Harry. His eyes seemed to be melancholy.
"It's okay Gil, just be honest with me next time." I say. He glances at Harry who looks away.
"Great. Now he can hate me in Auradon too." Gil says hugging me. He kisses my forehead. Harry turns and gets our stuff out of the limo. I look at him as he fiddles with the hook. Gil smiles at me innocently, but I can see something different. Something odd.
"I have something for you." Gil says opening his pocket. He pulls out a necklace in the shape of a spiral with a rainbow of small stones encased in the metal. In the center was a fire opal. It matched my natural hair color. Only Gil doesn't know that. I'm curious now.
"I picked it!" Uma says excitedly. I smile knowing Uma had helped Gil. That explains it. I accept the necklace and put it around my neck. Gil hugs me and I smile. I still love him. Perhaps I've always loved him.
"I gotta go to tourney practice. See you guys later." Gil says as he parades off down the street. I sigh.
"What's wrong?" Uma asks.
"He's different." I say.
"So do you think something's wrong with Gil?" Uma inquires.
"What's wrong Panda?" Harry says rejoining us.
"I'm concerned. The look in his eyes. It wasn't the Gil we know." I say. Harry puts his arm around me.
"You two have gotten awfully close." Uma says smirking.
"We're just friends." I say. Harry nods in agreement.
"Sure you are." Uma laughs. Harry smiles.
"Well I guess we should figure this place out." I say. Harry nods and gets our bags. Uma looks at me.
"What?" I ask.
"You guys are awfully close all of a sudden." Uma says.
"Yeah. Is that a bad thing?" I ask.
"No. But it's crazy how much of a 180 you made him do." Uma shrugs.
"Well...we just talked." I say.
"Yeah but you said two words to each other and now all of a sudden he's talking, smiling, and laughing. He hasn't done any of those things in 8 years." Uma says.
"So?" I ask.
"I think he likes you. As more than a friend." Uma says.
"I still love Gil, Uma. I'm just worried about him." I say.
"Me too. But hey, we're all in Auradon!" Uma smiles.
"Yeah. It's gonna be an experience." I say. She nods. She shows me the campus. It's so green and full of life. I notice King Ben is standing by the fountain. He has two other boys standing next to him. Evie, Jay, and Carlos are also standing there. They usher us over. Mal moves next to Ben and stands beside him. Upon seeing me his face turns dark.
"Who invited her here?" Ben asks.
"I did." Mal says.
"She's not allowed here. Take her back to isle at once." Ben says to Mal.
"You unfairly denied her acceptance here by using fairy godmother's magic to destroy her applications. She has as much a right to be here as I do." Mal says.
"I did what I had to do to protect Auradon. Her father was a disgrace. She needs to stay on the isle." Ben is yelling now.
"No. Your proclaimation states that all children on the isle are to be given a chance to live in Auradon. She's a child from the Isle is she not?" Mal raises her voice.
"Fine. But she needs to be watched." Ben crosses his arms.
"That's really unnecessary Ben. None of the others had to be watched." One of the boys said. He fiddles with his glasses. Evie takes his hand.
"Yeah I promise you she's not her father." Evie says.
"I'm Doug. Son of Dopey." He smiles and shakes my hand. The other boy standing there looks uncomfortable. Dizzy joins us and immediately runs over to the taller boy and hugs him tight. He smiles. She looks us over.
"Panda! I'm glad you're here!!" She squeals.
"Me too Dizzy. Who's the dude?" I ask.
"This is Chad. Cinderella's son. My step-cousin." Dizzy smiles.
"Hi." Chad says. Ben rolls his eyes and turns to Evie.
"Show them to their rooms." He says before walking off.
"He's a real ray of sunshine." I say scoffing.
"Come on. Pandora you will share a room with Uma." Evie smiles. She shows me to a room and leaves me and Uma alone. Harry is across the hall. He's Chad's roommate.
"Our first class is remedial goodness in the library." Uma says.
"Let's get some sleep." I say. Suddenly my phone buzzes. It's Gil. Uma and I exchange a look of fear.
"I saw you with Harry. I will not let him take you from me. -Gil" it said. Uma and I decide to tell Harry in the morning. When morning comes, my phone buzzes with over a hundred texts from Gil. I wake Uma and we pound on Harry's door.
"What is it?" He asks scratching his head.
"It's Gil. He hasn't stopped texting me all night. He said he saw us together." I say.
"That's......weird." He says. Suddenly the door opens. Chad is still in bed so it isn't him. I grip Uma's hand as Gil walks in.
"Hey everyone. Hey Panda." He says in a very sinister tone. His eyes changed from the soft innocent eyes to eyes filled with pure evil. Harry gets in front of me.
"Gil, Dude stay back." He says. His voice starts shaking.
"Stop trying to steal my girlfriend." He says in a more irritated voice.
"You're acting like your father." Uma says grabbing my hand.
"Why thank you." Gil says walking forward.
"I said stay back. Your acting crazy." Harry says.
"I'm not acting like anything. I just want my girlfriend back." I start to feel my face get hot.
"Gil please stop." I say starting to cry. Chad wakes up at the sound of my yelp and stands between me and Gil.
"Don't come any closer or I'll call fairy godmother on you!" He says.
"I want my girlfriend back." Gil says more forcefully. The anger in his eyes grows. Chad hits a button behind him and an alarm sounds. Students shuffle out into the library. Fairy Godmother comes in.
"Gil please leave them alone." She says.
"Don't tell me what to do." He says advancing towards me. Uma stands in front of me slightly and puts her arm out to block me.
Harry and Chad stand in front of us both. Carlos and Jay rush in from down the hall.
"Gil why are you acting like this?" Jay says.
"Harry tried to steal my girl." Gil says. Jay attempts to restrain Gil. Gil screams and struggles. Carlos takes Gil's other arm. The two of them couldn't hold him down. Chad grabs his leg. Ben comes in after hearing the commotion.
"Gil, Son of Gaston, you are hereby banished back to the isle of the lost. Permanently." He says. All at once movement stopped. I look at Gil. Suddenly I notice the glow in his eyes.
"Stop!" I yell.
"What's the matter?!" Uma asks.
"That's not Gil. He's been spelled!" I say. Jay leaves and comes back with Mal.
"Do something Mal." He says. Mal looks at us for a second.
"Take the trouble, take the evil, break the spell and pop the bubble." Mal says. Suddenly the glow vanishes and Gil goes limp.
"Gil!" I say. He looks at me in confusion. I hug him tight.
"What happened?" He asks.
"You were spelled." Uma says. Jane walks in from down the hall.
"What's going on?" She asks.
"Gil was spelled." I say.
"Spelled? Ben did you give Gil that potion?!" She asks in shock.
"Ben?" Mal asks.
"I was trying to get him to make her leave." He says angrily.
"What is your problem with me? What did I ever do to you?" I ask.
"Your father was a monster. He went from good to bad. I'm glad my dad banished him and took his eternal youth. He deserved to wither away." Ben says. He storms out of the room. I just stand there.
"Are you okay Panda?" Uma asks. I feel too many emotions at once. I start to cry. Harry holds me. Uma puts her hand on my shoulder.
"I hate him. I hate him so much." I say. Jane looks at me.
"I'm so sorry. Ben told me that potion was for himself." Jane says.
"What's it supposed to do?" Harry asks.
"Did you just talk?" Gil asks stunned. Harry turns his head away from him.
"It's supposed to make you act like your parents. Ben told me he needed beast strength." Jane explains.
"Come with me to the library." Mal says. We walk into the library where everyone was gathered.
"I'm so sorry Panda." Evie says. Dizzy hugs me. A blonde haired girl comes up to us.
"I'm Audrey. Aurora's Daughter." She says.
"Nice to meet you." I say. We all browse the books. Jane smiles and tells about almost every book in the library. We come to the back of the library where the special collections were. Jane started in on a few old books. Uma and I both notice the book with the silver cover. It's hidden pretty well, but we both see it. I pull it out. It looks old and tattered, and Jane gives me a funny look.
