"Harry?" I ask as I approach him slowly. He turns his head slightly.
"Thought you'd be with Uma and Gil," He says not facing me.
"I wasn't chosen," I say. My voice falters slightly.
"Wonder why." He says sarcastically. I sit down beside him.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask.
"Nothing. I'm just not surprised." He shrugs.
"Why?" I ask.
"Because your dad went crazy in Auradon. They're probably afraid you will too." He says.
"Doesn't explain why you didn't go. You WERE chosen." I say almost sarcastically.
"Don't belong there. Don't belong here either." He says. He looks down and a frown inches it's way onto his face.
"Harry why do you hate me?" I ask.
"You think I hate you?" He asks facing me for the first time and raising his eyebrows.
"Well yeah." I say. He takes a breath in.
"Well, I don't hate you, I hate what your father was. For one thing our fathers were enemies, and your father killed my father." Harry says.
"I didn't know that." I say shakily. I feel nauseas. Harry looks at me. His eyes look shocked.
"Didn't he tell you?" He asks.
"Well, I never knew him..." I say shaking.
"Wait what?" Harry says, his eyes opening wider.
"He abandoned me Harry. I don't even know where he is." I say, my voice starting to shake.
"Then who's been taking care of you all this time?" He asks almost looking concerned.
"No one. I've been in my treehouse up here ever since." I say pointing.
"Doesn't look very comfortable." Harry says.
"It's not bad. I like to watch the stars, but it does get really cold sometimes. I say. Harry looks at my face. He cups my cheek in his hand.
"Why didn't you tell them it was me?" He asks. I feel the cut.
"I didn't want to give them a reason to hate you. Uma forced it out of me, but she's not mad. I told her it was an accident." I say. He takes his hand away and looks at his hook.
"What about Gil?" He asks. His voice softens.
"He doesn't know." I say.
"It's best he shouldn't." He says.
"Hey, why don't you talk to Gil anymore? You were best friends." I ask.
"You don't know that either? Jeez, do I have to draw you a map?" He says. I laugh a little. He chuckles. I hadn't heard him laugh in a very long time. It was oddly comforting.
"When we were 9 he started paying more attention to you than me. He still does. You made him happy so I decided not to stand in his way." He says.
"Why would you?" I ask.
"Because I wanted to hang out with him and every time we made plans, he invited you, and when you said you couldn't go, he wouldn't go either. He wouldn't hang out with me unless you were there." Harry says.
"Harry I had no idea. Can you forgive me? I never even knew..." I say.
"I forgive you."He says.
"Thanks. Besides Gil and I aren't on talking terms right now." I say.
"Now that's hard to believe. Gil talks all the time." Harry chuckles again.
"He tried to leave and go to Auradon without telling me." I say.
"That's just like him. He's always messing things up. I wouldn't take it too seriously. He can't even tie his own shoes." Harry laughs. I laugh too. I lay back on the ground.
"What are you up to?" He asks.
"Looking at the stars." I say. He lays down next to me.
"They sure are far away." He says.
"Yeah, but I like looking for pictures in them." I say.
"Pictures?" Harry asks.
"Yeah! Look, see that looks like a bunny." I say pointing to a group of stars.
"That up there kinda looks like a fish." He points using the hook.
"Why do you treasure that hook so much Harry?" I ask him.
"It was the only thing my father ever gave me. He died when I was a kid. So this is my piece of him." He takes off the hook and hands it to me.
"Are you sure?" I ask.
"I trust you." He says. I take the hook and examine it. I notice an inscription inside.
"To my only son, Harry. Use it like a true pirate would." I read.
"What?" Harry asks.
"The inscription on the inside." I say pointing.
"I never noticed that before." Harry says taking the hook back. He smiles. I sit up and feel the tears in my eyes.
"Panda whats wrong?" Harry asks.
"Did you just call me Panda?" I ask astonished.
"Yeah. I like it." He smiles.
"My dad hated me. He never even tried to contact me. He never gave me anything to remember him by, and harry...I think he's dead." I sob. He puts his arm around me and says nothing for a few moments.
"Why do you think he's dead?" Harry asks.
"Because it was pixie dust keeping him young, and when he was banished to the isle, Tinkerbell stayed behind." I say.
"Wow. That sounds tragic." Harry says trying to sound sympathetic.
"Yeah there's only one thing he left me with." I say.
"Oh yeah?" He asks. I fiddle with my hair.
"Yeah this." I reveal a small strand of orange.
"What you mean your hairs not naturally green?" Harry asks pretending to be shocked.
"How'd you know?" I ask.
"We knew each other as babies. I have a picture of us in preschool. You hadn't died your hair yet. Don't worry Uma and Gil don't know." He smiles. He pulls the picture out of his wallet. It was of him kissing my cheek while we were in villain preschool.
"You kept that all these years?" I ask.
"Yeah. I thought it was a good picture of us." He smiles.
"Well it is. Actually Uma knows my hair is orange like my dad's. Gil doesn't know." I say.
"Jeez Gil really doesn't know anything does he?" Harry laughs.
"No he doesn't, but he misses you a lot Harry." I say.
"I know." He says.
"How?" I ask.
"I see him looking at me sometimes. I look back sometimes too. He always goes back to looking at you." He says.
"We've been going out for a couple of months but just made it official a few days ago. He needs to know what he's done." I say.
"Are you going to continue dating him?" Harry asks me.
"Honestly? I don't know. He has a very warped common sense." I say.
"Well his brothers are always beating him up. Maybe he got hit in the head one too many times." Harry laughs. I do too.
"Harry what did you mean when you said you didn't belong in Auradon but you didn't belong here either?" I ask him.
"I just don't feel like I really fit into either place. I don't know." He says shaking his head.
"I know what you mean." I say.
"You do?" Harry asks.
"Yeah wherever I go my dad is hated, and I don't feel like a villain, but I don't feel like a hero either." I say. I start shaking from the cold.
"Here take my coat." Harry says wrapping his red leather jacket around me.
"I hate that we have to choose. Why can't we be both?" I say.
"Maybe we're just not meant to be here." Harry says.
"Harry, you said your dad died. So where do you live exactly?" I ask him.
"On the pirate ship." He says.
"That's not safe. Come move in with me for a while. We can renovate and fix up the place." I say smiling.
"Really?" Harry asks.
"Of course." I say smiling. I put my head on his shoulder.
"Thanks Panda." He says softly. The next morning we start to work on the house. Harry seems to really enjoy the work and I do too. His company is comforting. When we take our lunch break, Uma video chats us.
"Hey Panda! Hey....Harry?" She asks.
"Hey Uma. We're friends now." I say smiling. Harry smiles too.
"Whoa. I haven't seen you smile since we were like 9." Uma says.
"Yeah well, this one can do that." He smiles at me.
"Yeah, Harry lives with me now." I say.
"Ohhh spicy." Uma teases.
"We're just friends. So how's Auradon?" I ask.
"Honestly its a little too goody two shoes for me. Get this, we were in the library when Mal and I found an old spell book and Jane, fairy godmother's daughter got all freaked out." Uma says.
"Wow exciting. We miss you Uma." I say.
"Yeah we do." Harry echoes.
"I miss you guys too. Hey Panda, Gil is all mopey. He won't do anything or say anything." She says.
"Well he did that to himself." I say.
"True. He's on the tourney team now. The cheerleaders are all over him. I don't think he likes it though." She laughs.
"Figures." Harry chuckles.
"Wow. And he laughs. Panda you're a miracle worker!" Uma smiles.
"I didn't do anything. Anyway we're renovating and we should get back to work." I say.
"Yeah. I have class soon. Laters." Uma smiles and hangs up. Harry smiles.
"Let's get back to work." Harry says. I nod. He and I work until sunset. And then we sit at the table and have a glass of lemonade. Harry gets a concerned look on his face as he fiddles with the ice in his cup.
"What's wrong Hooky?" I ask. He laughs a little.
"First off. Don't ever call me that in front of people. Second I'm worried about Gil. He IS in Auradon after all." He says.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask confused.
"You've heard the stories of how King Ben treated Mal and the others." He says.
"Yeah, but Gil is sweet." I say.
"That maybe true. But he is gullible, is he not?" He asks.
"Yeah, I guess so. Why?" I ask.
"What if Auradon...changes him?" Harry asks looking down.
"You still care about him don't you Hooky?" I ask with a sly smirk.
"Of course. He used to be my best friend." Harry sighs.
"Used to?" I ask.
"He's given up on me." Harry says.
"Well...he is a villain." I say smirking.
"Oh hush." Harry says hugging me and putting his hand on mine. He holds my hand for a few moments. I smile and revert my attention.
"Whatever Hooky." I say smiling. The next morning the same purple limo pulls into the square once more.
