millie's pov:

"good news, you didn't cause damage to a police officer in the instance of blood or anything seriously threatening," a cop spoke, he had a deep and brisk voice.

"like i told you, it was an act of self-defense," i groaned, standing up and brushing off my pants.

"luckily it was recognized, we are letting you off with a small fine, nothing big," he clicked his pen and set it on the clipboard.

"however before you go, we are recommending you a therapist hired on our end," he said, looking through his keys.

was that was even a thing, i shouldn't bother to ask if it was even allowed to prevent getting into more trouble somehow.

"thank you," i managed to say politely, as he clicked the cell open.

"you need me to call a parent or an uber maybe?" he asked kindly, i appreciated it.

"i can walk back, i need to see a friend nearby here anyway," i smiled, he handed me my phone with blue rubber gloves on.

"thank you!" i spoke fast, quickly looking for the door.

"the fine will be processed to your house and if you fail to pay it-"

i stopped listening as i already knew the answer and swung the door open to a cold night.

i must have sat in jail for a while by how dark the sky was, but time was the least of my worries.

third person pov:

"excuse me!" millie ran through the hospital almost out of breath, grabbing on to the nurse's desk.

"i-is finn wolfhard discharged?" she asked, trying to catch her breath.

"who are you in relation ma'am?" the older lady croaked out, as millie used hand motions signaling to hurry up.

"cousin! i'm his cousin eleanor from sweden, my accent uh faded, can i please see him?!" millie panicked.

the nurse readjusted her glasses and focused her eyes, as millie attempted a kind and sincere smile.

"he was discharged earlier today, you missed him," she turned her glance down at her computer, as millie took off through the doors before she could look up again.

she luckily caught a bus that was nearly empty, out of breath to run any further at the moment.

she winced at a notification, picking it up to see a text message from caleb- multiple.

sadie told me you went to jail, what the fuck? RECEIVED 3:53 PM

i need you to tell me as soon as you get out, when you do, we're at your house. RECEIVED 5:00 PM

where are you? RECEIVED 7:45 PM

millie: i got out, i'm more concerned with someone else right now caleb- sadie is okay tho?

caleb: well yeah no shit, finn? you're late

caleb: sadie is great

millie: have you seen him?

caleb: he's in a wheelchair, we were waiting for you at your house, he didn't wanna go home

millie: ii m coming home rn

she could barely type from how overwhelmed she was.

caleb: don't bother, i brought him home anyway. i'm not w/ him.

"pull over!" she screamed at the bus driver, that was as close as she needed to be.

she hopped out of the bus as the driver yelled for a payment, she continued running.

she was a block away from finn's house, all she needed to do was take the corner at go past a few houses.

running as fast as she possibly could, her short brown hair flew behind her.

turning the corner, she looked down at her untied shoelaces, hoping she would not face another inconvenience.

she passed tall trees blocking the sight from his house, as it now came into view.

her breathing had a hitch, feet coming to a quick halt.

he wasn't anywhere to be seen, but she didn't give up.

attempting to catch her breath, she walked into the wolfhard's yard, not seeing his mother's car in the garage.

she felt as if she was about to break down any second, slowly walking around his house to the backyard.

it was dark and hard to see, most of it surrounded by forest and shrubbery.

scrunching her eyes to see better, she focused on a lump next to a tall willow tree that hung down sadly on the other side of the yard.

quietly walking towards it, she made it out to be not the shape of a person, but a chair.

a lump formed in her throat, blinking rapidly, realizing that was not the only thing under the tree.

she tried choking out a name, but failed, picking up her speed.

and the other thing was indeed finn wolfhard.

she held her arms out and crashed right into him sitting down, not saying a word.

he thought he was dreaming, closing his eyes right before the best hug of his life.

"i've been waiting for you for months," millie managed to get out, not changing her position.

"i know," finn hugged tighter, one hand placed on the back of her head.

the wait was over.
