eleanor hopper had been exhausted to say the least.

lately, she had felt more and more pressured. from keeping up her grades, to working at the starcourt mall, it felt like a direct punch to the stomach.

the now sixteen year old sat on the porch of her house, wrapped up in a blanket as she watched the rain splatter onto the ground.

she furrowed her eyebrows together and rubbed her forehead as she saw a familiar figure biking up to the house.

"mike... what are you doing here?" she stood up, crossing her arms.

she would've run up to him, but decided against it once she noticed the rain becoming even heavier.

"i knew you were up!" he hollered, pushing his bike on the ground and approaching her.

"how?" she mumbled, grasping one of his hands and bringing him over to one of the chairs on the porch.

"the void." he replied.

el sighed. she hated how she always accidentally called mike in the middle of the night, which most likely woke him up.

"oh." she whispered, looking down at her trembling hands.

mike frowned as he noticed the depressed look on her face. she hadn't been as talkative lately, either.

"hey, what's wrong?" he softly asked, grabbing her hands and gazing into her doe eyes.

suddenly, the girl broke down.

mike's eyes widened, and he immediately pulled her into a hug.

he could feel his heart shattering into pieces as she sobbed into his chest, murmuring apologizes. he rubbed her back, not knowing what else to do.

"w-what happened?" his voice quivered. he couldn't stand to see his girlfriend in tears.

"i-i can't d-do this anymore." she cried, putting her face in her hands.

mike knelt down beside her and hugged the broken girl once again.

"can't do what anymore?" he lifted her chin up, and then proceeded to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"i feel like everything i do is wrong!" she yelled.

mike wasn't sure who she was yelling to, maybe herself? all he knew was that she didn't deserve to feel the way she did.

"you've done nothing wrong, el. i promise." he offered her a hug, which she quickly melted into.
