Luke's POV:

I woke up in the hospital.

Ashton was asleep in the chair next to my cot, his hand in mine.

"Ashton." I croaked. My throat hurt, my head was spinning, and I couldn't breathe right. I was hooked up to so many machines and life savers.

I wanted them all broken.

"Ashton." I squeezed his hand until I saw his eyes flutter open. "Ashton."

"Luke!" he scrambled up to sit next to me on the cot, never letting go of my hand. "Luke thank god you're okay. You've been unconscious for two weeks. We all thought you were a goner." I could tell by his puffy eyes he'd cried recently. Probably himself to sleep.

"I still feel sick." I said quietly.

The truth?

I wanted to die.

I downed a whole bottle of sleeping pills and pain killers, hoping to just die.

"Well you did almost die. I wouldn't expect you to feel great when you wake up."

Almost.

So close.

"I..what?" I ruffled my hair from my eyes.

"You almost died." He whispered. I didn't want to tell him that was the point. But I knew I had to.

"That's what I was trying to do."

He looked at me, his face that of shock, horror, and sorrow mixed into one.

"Babe..." was all he could say before he broke down crying.

I pulled him down to my chest and held him. "Shh, Ash. It's okay. I'm okay now. Babe, I'm okay."

He calmed down long enough for me to tell him what I did.

He just curled up next to me, pressed against my chest. Breathing ragged and hiccups now and then, he was okay.

"I can promise you something." I said after a moment of sharp silence.

"What?" he sniffled and looked up at me.

"I can promise you I won't do it again. I won't try anything again."

"How do you know you can promise something like that?"

"Because I have you. And without you, I would've been dead. You saved my life, Ashton." I leaned down and kissed him. He smiled, blushed, and let out a cry of happiness.

I ruffled his hair and put an arm around him.

That's when I blacked out.
