In the end, our Teen Fiction category came down to two very different books that we liked for very different reasons. It was extremely close, and probably one of the tougher decisions we've had to make during the judging of this competition.
First, our honorable mention...
Life, Love, and a Little Coffee by oliviarose85
Things we think this author did well:
- The narration in this book was really well written and gave us a good look into the thoughts of the characters.
- Interesting, likable characters. The main characters that the story focused on all had very unique personalities, and Ada especially was easy to relate to.
Things we think this author could work on:
- There were a good few times when the dialogue or the way the characters interacted didn't strike us as very believable or likely to happen in real life.
- The start of the story was really strong, but around the middle of the book, the plot started moving really slowly. Just be careful not to lose your reader's attention halfway through!
And now, the category winner of our Teen Fiction category...
Flawsome by SerendipityD!
Flawsome really stood out to us when we first started reading through entries. Overall, the whole concept was really interesting, and it definitely held our attention from start to finish.
This book is in the running for overall winner in The Novelty Awards, which will be chosen from all the category winners. Congratulations and good luck!
Look out for our more detailed review coming soon, and make sure to send our winners some love by checking out their stories!
