We walked side by side until we reached our room. He entered his keycard and opened the door.
"You haven't told me your name yet." I said.
He looked at me and said, "My name is Chan."
"Nice to formally meet you, Chan." I said. "I thought that I wouldn't be able to." I chuckled.
"Well, you seemed genuine." He said as he shrugged. What's the meaning of that?
I went to my luggage and got a pair of clothes, went to the bathroom and took a bath. I walked out wearing an oversized shirt and a pair of jean shorts with my hair in a twisted towel on my head.
"So, should I call you Kathleen or Junie?" He asked.
"Whatever you want." I said as my phone rang.
It was Ella, I answered.
"Junie, I heard about the restroom incident." She said. "I'm sorry about Paul."
"I don't need an apology because of the restroom incident because I understood. What I'm hurt by is that you didn't seem to tell anyone except Perry and Janice that I was invited by you. It's one thing to be called Poor and can't afford the flight and lodging but it's a whole other thing to be regarded as someone trying to ruin and sabotage someone's happiness." I said feeling like an emotional wreck.
"Just hang up." Chan said.
"Who's that?" She asked.
"No one." I hung up the phone.
I sighed and closed my eyes to collect myself but the vibration of my phone on my pocket interrupted my focus. I looked at the screen and it was Steve again.
"Yes, Sir?" I asked enthusiastically like everything in my life is still in place.
"Hi, Kathleen. Good work! You finished everything and I'm impressed."
"Thank you, Sir. I do my best." I said.
"I know! That's why I trust that this project will be in good hands." He said.
"Thank-"
"So, if it isn't a bother and you're in Los Angeles. Can you send some documents for me? I'll be sending some documents for you to send to a buddy of mine in Las Vegas."
"Las Vegas?" I asked bewildered. What the heck do I know about Las Vegas? I could barely even walk out of the hotel here in Los Angeles!
"Yes. Since it's personal and not related to our company, I sent cash for your pocket money and lodging. What date would be suitable for you?" He asked not even letting me have a say in this. But of course, who am I to turn down a favor from my boss?
"You're going to Las Vegas?" Chan asked.
I held up a hand to stop him from talking and he looked surprised and held up his hands in surrender and snickered.
"I think I'm available by tomorrow evening, Sir." I said.
"Good thing that I booked you a flight for tomorrow. I already sent it to your e-mail." He said. "Thanks, Kathleen!"
"S-sir!" I tried to say but he hung up on me.
"Can I talk now, Ma'am?" Chan asked.
"Yes, you may." I said, sighing as I lied down.
"Are you going to Las Vegas?" He asked.
"Yes. Why?"
"Let me come with you." He said.
"I thought you didn't have any money?" I asked.
"I don't. What are friends for?" He said smirking.
"Are we friends now?" I asked suppressing a laugh.
"Of course, we are!" He answered enthusiastically. "I don't like asking favors but since I don't have a choice- at least I have you! My financer!"
I laughed,"You better pay me back." I said.
"When you go to Seoul, I'll pay you back. Big time." He said.
"On second thought... I think I changed my mind." I said.
"What?"
"Convince me why." I said smirking as I was looking at him while lying down.
"Because I'm the best companion in the world!" He said.
I grimaced excessively. He scratched the back of his neck and glared.
"Good bye, Las Vegas!" I said in a sing-song voice.
He sighed and closed his eyes. When he opened them, he looked at me with puppy eyes, pouting.
"Let Chan come with Junie. Or else, Chan will feel hurt until he dies." In a baby voice.
I laughed and he threw a pillow at my bed. "I'll die of embarrassment!" He exclaimed.
I laughed louder. "Fine, fine, fine!"
