The morning came, I sat up and directly went to use my laptop to check the e-mails that was sent yesterday and directly went on to typing the needed documents and calling all the needed contacts. I didn't bother to look at the time, I just went and did everything. I passed everything on time as I washed my face and brushed my teeth and finally stretched. Work is always effective for being a good distraction for what happened last night.
I could feel my stomach growl in hunger. I stood up and looked at the time on my phone and saw that it was already 3 in the afternoon! I looked at the bed next to me and realized that my roommate hasn't moved at all. I cautiously tiptoed to face him and saw that his lips were pale and dry, "Oh my gosh!" I ran to the phone between our beds and was supposed to dial 911 when I felt a big hand hold onto my wrist.
"I'm fine." He groaned.
"You don't look fine!" I exclaimed.
He propped himself up shakily, "I feel weak."
"Can you stand up?" I asked as I got my medicine kit.
"Why?" He asked as he lied down flat on the bed.
"What time did you last eat? I've been working for 6 hours and you haven't stood up once."
He didn't answer. I swear that this boy is getting my nerves!
"Let's go." I said.
"Where?"
"To eat." I said.
"I can't!" He says annoyed.
"Do you want to die?!" I asked annoyed too.
"I don't have money, okay? I landed last week and got robbed. The last money I have was used to buy a new cellphone and three days worth of stay here." He said.
"Let's go." I said softly. "Don't worry about that."
"I don't like owing someone favors- let alone a stranger." He said.
"I'm the one here trying to be nice and help you. If you don't want to then I'll just go by myself." I said as I got my black sling bag and wore my slip on shoes.
He stood up and wore his shoes and black cap. I smirked and said, "You had a lot to say but end up coming with me." He scoffed at that.
We walked to the nearest restaurant and entered. We stood in line.
"Order what you want." I said.
"Hi! What can I get for you today?" The cashier asked us.
"We'll get one large pepperoni pizza and one large cheese pizza." He said smiling at the cashier.
"That will be $12 please." The cashier said.
I smiled at her and handed her a $20 bill. She gave the change and handed us a round electric number thing-a-majig that blinks and vibrates that indicates that our order is ready.
"What brings you to LA?" He asked.
"My best friend is marrying my ex boyfriend." I said smiling at him.
He snickered, "What kind of person is that?"
"That,my friend, is Paul Peters." I said.
"We're not friends." He said smiling playfully.
"Ever heard of expressions?" I asked. He chuckled.
"Smiling suits you." I said. "It makes you look less of a snob."
"Am I handsome when I smile?" He asked smirking. This conceited jerk.
"Yeah." I said nonchalantly.
He laughed, "You're pretty cool."
"I try." I said shrugging. "Can't help it. It comes naturally."
He laughed at that. And for the first time, I thought that we could actually stand each other.
