Ava woke up from Colby shaking her shoulders, saying, "Ava, wake up, we're almost there." she got up groggily.

"We are?" she asked, suddenly sort of awake.

"yes." Colby said.

They had hiked a couple hours more before finding a spot to sleep for the night and now the sun was blaring upon them. The 102-degree weather beat down on them, it was a wonder how Ava slept through it. She stood up onto her weary legs and followed the others down the mountain towards the school.

As they neared the school, Ava saw a van pass them, but didn't think much of it, having sudden energy to move faster.

"save the energy for later, there's no doubt that we'll have to fight." Mila said to her, noticing her renounced energy.

She nodded and slowed a bit, storing the energy for a fight.

"There it is." Mila said after a while, stopping near the gates, "stay close and keep quiet. We don't know what will happen, so keep ears and eyes out."

They advanced towards the school quietly, hiding whenever they saw a guard. Getting in was easy, making sure the security cameras did not see them was the problem. They weren't wearing the normal black, for one thing. The other was that all the hallways were brightened with light. They decided to hide in a small closet. Yes, all three of them. They hid there until they saw the lights in the hallway dimmed, signaling the end of school hours. They sneaked out and stealthed under the security cameras and ran down the stairs to the basement. They looked through each door and couldn't find any sign of blonde haired Avery until they came to a door that had voices coming through. They hid near the door and crouched and pressed their ears to the door to hear.

"...doubt she'll live to see tomorrow morning." A voice was saying.

"and if she is the one?" another voice asked.

"he will most likely kill her sooner. We don't want her going around wreaking havoc to our allies."

Ava and Mila looked at each other with panic, knowing who they were talking about.

"and are we able to watch?" the second voice asked

"yes, at the border of Scottsdale and Gilbert. There would be no way anyone will find it. And if Mesa High intervenes, we will tear them to pieces." The first said.

"Good, I want to see the execution." The second said.

They heard chairs scooting across ground and heard the door start to open. Ava, Mila, and Colby all opened a random door and hid inside, making sure they don't close the door all the way. They heard footsteps walking down the hall. They waited until the footsteps disappeared before creeping out. They ran back out of the building and off the campus.

"so now what? We didn't find Avery and it'll take weeks to walk to Scottsdale. And we don't even have an hour!" Ava said, getting frustrated. Nothing was going right.

"Calm yourself. We'll call reinforcements and find where she is." Mila said, calmly.

"but-"

"no buts. we are in the middle of a war, so we'll go down together if we have to."

Ava didn't answer, so Mila took out her phone and called for reinforcements. After the call, they waited. And waited. And waited.

Once two vans came, it was thirty minutes after Mila had called. They climbed in and sat and waited the 15 minute drive. Fifteen minutes to get there, fifteen minutes to come up with scenarios where they don't get there on time, fifteen minutes to come up with a plan, fifteen minutes to-

Suddenly they were there. But no one was there. There was not a soul in the clearing...except....

"no!" Ava yelled.

There was a body on the ground, but it wasn't Avery. A was a small girl of about five years.

Mila hurried out of van, and Colby and Ava followed.

"we'll drive around, see if we can't find them." The driver said. Ava and Colby nodded at him while Mila collapsed next to the small shape, sobbing. The driver drove away and Colby, Ava, Mila, and the young girl were alone... or so they thought.

Suddenly, they heard rustling in the bushes and Mila yelped. The small girl was rising. Mila backed away towards Colby and Ava as five giant monsters and three humans surrounded them. The small girl joined. A teen aged boy walked forward. They were being ambushed.

Avery thought her jaw was going to fall off, this young boy was her brother? She didn't have a brother, and even if she did, she wouldn't have expected him to look like this. He was tall and blond, and looked exactly the same age as she was, he was handsome but not one she would fall in love with, if he wasn't her brother. She struggled a bit.

"Are you going to answer me, sister?" The boy asked.

She glared at him, "you dragged me all this way just to say hello? You kidnapped me!"

"ah yeah... about that... I don't want to just say hello, I want to also ask you to join us."

"and why would I want to do that?"

"because I can help you. I've mastered my powers, and I can help you with yours."

"I don't have any powers.

"yes, you do."

"no, I don't."

"Yes, you do, and I can show you. Guards, you have the girl, right?"

"yes sir, they will be here by sunrise." A guard said.

"tell them to hurry, we don't have all day. I want them all ready to meet the Ork king for their trial." Avery's supposed brother said.

"Yes sir." The guard walked away.

Avery's surroundings were nothing much. It was a small room with grey walls and no furniture but the chair she was chained to. She looked around to see her supposed brother and saw him looking at her, and she awkwardly looked away.

"What do you want?" she asked, not liking the awkward silence between them.

"Easy, your powers." he answered.

"What powers? I don't have powers. Why do people keep assuming I have powers?"

"You have powers, I know you do."

"No i don't"

"Yes, you do."

"No I don't"

"Yes you do."

Another awkward silence, something Avery was NOT planning on having.

"How do know I have powers?" she finally asked.

"Because I'm your twin, the dark side."
