Chapter 1: Frostwolf The Mighty Applies For Skyline

I sighed as I stood outside the building. This is it, I thought. Now I have a chance to show my skills.

Why was I standing outside a large arcade/warehouse, freaking out with my laptop close by my side in its Battlefield 4 over-the-shoulder bag?

A gaming tournament. There could be no other reason. Nothing else(with the exception of swimming) would get me out of the house on the 28th of August at 11:30 AM. Gaming wasn't just an escape for me, it was a gateway to a whole other community and pretty much a lifestyle. To join a gaming team that would actually participate in a tournament was my dream.

Okay, I have another dream, but I'm not going to get a boyfriend. Not any time soon, at least. If I ever did, though, I want him to be a gamer too. That would be perfect. Maybe I could meet him here.

Yeah, right.

Anyways. The boyfriend thing wasn't bothering me. It was the amount of people who were going to be in there. I wasn't good with too many people, but I knew I would have to overcome it, so I inhaled. I exhaled deeply and walked inside. My Sony headphones hung around my neck and my iPod was tucked away safely in the pocket of my shorts. I hadn't been able to go anywhere without a hoodie these days, so I was now wearing a really thin white one over my pink short sleeved shirt, and the hood was up. I was wearing some old pink leather sandals from Geox which I loved.

The arcade was extremely busy because of the tryouts for Skyline, the name of the team. I felt more than just a few male gazes lock on me as I walked down to the sign up desk. I couldn't take all the eyes checking me out and felt extremely uncomfortable. I'm not that hot or sexy. I'm just a 5'8 blonde. My hair was long and lightly wavy, and it wasn't extremely neon or so. I don't have a large chest or butt, and even if I did I wouldn't be showing any part of them off. I dismissed the idea that they were staring because I was a girl, since I had seen plenty come in. Come to think of it, almost none of those girls were on their own. So they were staring at me because I was a girl, a gamer, andsingle. Perfect. Unable to take the pressure, I bolted to the desk. I bumped into a guy, but he probably didn't see me. I apologized and slowed down nearing the desk. I gulped and smiled at the guy sitting there. He looked about my height, maybe 19 years old. He had brown eyes and long brunet hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a Skyline shirt and smiled at me.

"Hi," I stammered. "I want to sign up for tryouts?"

"Oh, sure! Here," he said, handing me a form. I reached for the thin metallic pen hanging on my pocket. "Just fill this out and bring it back here. Okay?" I nodded, smiling. "Great. Don't mind the guys, it's only part because you're alone. We aren't free of stereotypes, so a blonde just waltzing in here is pretty surprising to them. I'm sure you'll show them you didn't take a wrong turn on the way to the football field at tryouts."

His grin made me chuckle. "I'll be sure to do just that," I replied and walked away to one of the tables. I sat down and chewed my pen, a disgusting but comforting habit. I began to fill the blanks.
