Chapter 6: "You're On, Knight."
"You like him!" Peyton shouted.
I stared at her like she was mental.
"What!?" I shouted back my voice in perfect sync with Sigma. We all turned to him, a look of disbelief on his face. The others missed the flash of hope in his eyes. Sam voiced our thoughts.
"You were listening?!" she growled. He calmly nodded.
"Hey."
I jumped out of my skin. Damn you, Knight! He was shirtless again, and that meant he wanted something. Since the day we had met he knew that he could get me to let him see me in a full on bikini if he walked around bare-chested. If he wasn't in the other house, god knows what I'd let him or make me do. Sometimes I hate California. He gets an opportunity to see some part of me exposed every day, be it my legs, back or arms. He might have seen me in my underwear once but if he did see me he's been hiding it well.
"Sigma, I don't wear those kinds of bikini bottoms. I wear the shorts. You know this," I scolded. He laughed.
It's been a week since Peyton and Sam's sleepover. Pey thinks that Sigma and I are a perfect couple and that we would be so cute together. It was Friday today, but we had a day off because of some strike. Sigma kept sitting at our lunch table the past week, and the rumors went flying like crazy. I was used to it, seeing as I'm almost a popular girl on the high school charts. (Note the almost.) A sex god like Sigma shouldn't associate with nerds like me, but little do they know that he's one of us. Colton hasn't spoken to me in a while and I'm relieved.
"Wanna go swimming after tryouts?" he asked. I looked up at him.
"Whose house, or which beach?" I asked. La Jolla isn't that far away. He chuckled.
"You think I'd let my little brother or those guys who forced me to be in their group see you half naked?" he replied, as if it was obvious. "Yours, dear." I flinched at the sound of the nickname and held onto the table to stop my knees buckling. I realized a second later that I was having shudders, not feeling giddy. Sigma picked up on it quickly and jumped over. He picked me up onto the bed and held me in his lap, against his chest. I felt weak, but not from the shudders. He rubbed circles on my back with one hand and stroked my face with the other. That was our standard procedure, and it was the 4th time this week. My breathing hitched when I came to and realized I was up against the bare chest of my extremely attractive classmate-slash-nextdoor neighbor.
"I've been having them more often since you came," I whispered. Sigma knew about my shudders.
"Skye, are you sure that shudders aren't your ovaries bursting when you see the hotness that is me?" he asked. I punched him on the shoulder.
"Don't forget to be modest," I mumbled into him.
"Sorry, but honestly," he said. "Same place as period cramps. It could just be your body telling you to please yourself." I punched him harder.
"I'm fine, and swimming is fine." Sigma smiled at his accomplishments. Just as he was about to leave, he leaned in to my ear, his warm breath tickling my ear. "Wear the ones I like underneath." He jumped back to his room, leaving me speechless. I checked the time when I escaped the trance he left me in and flopped back on the bed. There was an hour until second tryouts. I groaned.
"If you were human, if you were who I assumed you were," I sang. "You wouldn't have done this..."
Sigma groaned and I couldn't help but smile. "Skye, don't get me wrong, you have a beautiful voice that I absolutely crave every day, but I don't know how I feel about the lyrics to $TING coming out of your mouth."
