Chapter 9: A Little Death

A strong arm wrapped around my waist. I didn't need to see who it was. I knew it was Sigma. He had been clinging to me ever since he kissed me in the gym in front of Ryder. I tried to get out of his grasp but he had me close. I pushed free of him eventually and walked down the hall. I couldn't let him get to me. I was on my period, and every girl knows that our hormones go wild then. It's probably God saying 'Fuck you' by making us want sex the one week we can't have it.

"Dear? Why are you avoiding me," he asked, obviously hurt.

I shook my head. "Sigma..."

He grabbed my wrist. "Is it because," he whispered, spinning me around to face me. I gulped. His face showed hurt and was killing me. He leaned in to my ear. "I'm not Jesse Rutherford?" I gasped and pushed him off. He was laughing.

"Sigma! How did you know about me and Jesse?!" I shouted. His breath caught in his throat and he went wide eyed. "And yes, that's exactly why! You're not Rutherford. He's so much better than you."

"She sought death on a queen-sized bed," he choked out. I stared at him.

"Are you implying I'm only with him for orgasms and sex? You bastard!" I shouted. Everyone was looking at us.

"Please! Why else," he shouted, pausing. "Would you be with the guy who claims he can't help that sex runs through him?"

I walked back up to him. I trailed my finger from his jawline to the base of his neck. He narrowed his eyes at me. I smirked at him.

"Well, you see, Sigma. Jesse Rutherford is the vocalist and designer for the Neighbourhood, extremely attractive and covered in tattoos. You, however, are simply a Californian gamer named after a Greek letter," I explained in the most seductive voice I could muster, completely aware that everyone could hear me.

He smirked back at me. It happened too quickly. One moment I was smirking at him, the next his lips were on mine moving in sync with mine and I was pressed up against his chest. I'm not going to go into the gory details about how it was my first kiss because it wasn't. Colton Garrett is my ex. We made out. A lot. The only things worth noting would be the 'sparks' and the wolf whistles and gasps from the crowd. I honestly never wanted to stop, but humans need to breathe. When he pulled away, yes, he pulled away, we were both out of breath. A song got stuck in my head and I was about to tease him, but I decided against it. God bless better judgment.

The whistles had stopped and I noticed Sigma's hand on my neck. So he did get my little reference. Everyone was staring at us, waiting for me to flip.

"Jesse may have a voice of a thousand angels, that even Joshua Clark finds attractive, but you love me," Sigma said.

What he had said had me thinking. I've known Sigma likes me for most of the month. He spent an entire month thinking about me, caring for me and being a great friend. The question was, do I like him? Have I been developing feelings for him? This kid, he could have had me all those times, and every single one of them he would back up before touching me and apologize a thousand times. So, was I developing feelings for him?

Hell yes.

I smiled at him. I gave him a peck on the lips and said, "That I do." He stared at me with shocked expression before letting me go. My smile never faltered. I walked away with a smile on my face. When I reached Calculus, Sam was staring at me with her oh-bloody-hell-no-you-didn't look. I smiled even wider.

"Okay, what did you do, Alexis?" she asked me. I grinned. She gasped and shook my shoulders. "Skye! I called you Alexis! Get mad at me! What happened?"
