Compromise

Master managed to get you and natsu the reward for the job and you happily take it and go buy your restaurant. You fix it up and change the name to "The Fire Dragon" which natsu of course approves of. You named it in honor of him after all because if it wasn't for him you wouldn't be here today.

You get the place fixed up and decorated with red fire dragons everywhere and a huge red sign in front with the restaurant name written in red and black. You smile and hug natsu close as you look at the restaurant you own with pride.

"Natsu. Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah. What is it?"

"Now that I own this place will you keep going out on jobs?" You ask sadly

"Yeah I will. It's part of being in a guild. Plus I want to make money myself." He explains

"I understand. I want to go with you still but after last time I'm scared to. Maybe I can go with you to the town but not go on the actual job with you?" You ask

"Yeah I guess that can work for some jobs." He says.
"Yeah. You can come with me on jobs that will take a long time as long as you stay out of the way of the job itself and stay safe."

"I promise!" You chirp and hug him.

A few months go by and you've gone with him on a few jobs. You will stay at a hotel or a rental house and him and his team go on the job. If the job is dangerous they stay away but if the job is easy you all stay together. You loved the idea of being near natsu and knowing he's ok. Sometimes they come back pretty beat up and exhausted but you care for them and help them. You can tell they love having you around.

When natsu is not working for the guild he works for you. He puts on a show as he cooks for the customers using his fire magic. Thanks to him your business is booming! You earned enough to open a second restaurant closer to home and named it "The Second Fire Dragon." And it soon became a hit as well. You decided to do something unexpected and invited everyone to the restaurant.

"Thank you all for coming! I have a little announcement to make and I wanted you all here." You look around and see Natsu and motion for him to come up. "I have decided give co-ownership of this restaurant to Natsu Dragneel! For without him I wouldn't have any of this!" Everyone cheers and natsu looks shocked. "But that doesn't mean eat all the food." You whisper in his ear and he chuckles.

"Thank you Y/N." He whispers in your hair as he gives you a hug.

Natsu hired Mira to run the restaurant when he was out of town on a job. And let me say she ran it with a iron fist. I still ran the main restaurant and when I was off on a job with Natsu I left Gajeel in charge because the manager I had before quit because he didn't get along with natsu. They butted heads worse than Natsu and Gray. Now Gajeel really and literally ran the restaurant with a iron fist. No one dared step out of line when we weren't there.

Me and natsu valued our compromise with work until one day they were on a dangerous mission and the bad guys found out about me. They kidnapped me and used me as bait. No matter how much training I had I still couldn't defend myself from a ambush. I saw the pain in everyone's eyes when they saw me tied up and slung over a guys shoulder like I was a sack of potatoes. When they finally rescued me I cried in Natsu's arms and told him I'll never go on another job again. He reluctantly agreed but still said I could go on non dangerous jobs. I nodded but secretly I didn't even want to go on those.

When we got home he was frustrated. He let his anger out and yelled about how I allowed myself to be captured. I just listened and silently cried. He was right. I allowed myself to be taken. When he stopped yelling he saw me crying and sulked. He apologized but I said it's ok because I agreed with him. I won't do anymore jobs. He hugged me and took me to bed. He held me as I cried still and fell asleep. I can feel his sadness and it was all because of me.

Natsu left on more jobs over the next few months. He slowly increased his time away and I got used to his trips. We ended up becoming the wealthiest couple in town. We built a bigger house and furnished it but still kept our old house intact. Sentimental reasons you know? We looked at our lives and smiled. We walked hand in hand into the guild one day and Gray got in his face.

"Natsu! We all need to know something!" He yells.

"Yeah and what's that?!" Natsu yells back

"When are you two going to get married already?!" Gray yells and we look around and everyone nods.

Me and natsu look at each other wide eyed. We never thought of it. In fact we never brought it up. We were just happy with each other. Natsu winks at me and I go sit down with Lucy and Erza at the bar and start chatting with them and Mira.

Natsu's POV
"Dude don't put me on the spot. I've been planing to ask her for a while now. I have a blacksmith making the rings now" I whisper to Gray

"why didn't you tell me?!" He yells and I slap my hand over his mouth

"I wanted to surprise everyone that's why!" I whisper yell and remove my hand from his mouth. He nods and walks away.

Your POV
"So have any idea if he will ask you to marry him?" Lucy asks while nudging me in the ribs

"Yeah actually. He's been pretty secretive lately. I think he's planning something." I respond

"Ooooohhhh I can't wait!" Mira squeals

"Wait for what?" Natsu asks as he comes up behind me and wraps his arms around me.

"Nothing!" Mira sings and rushes off and we all laugh.

Natsu nuzzles my neck and I sigh.

"Awww you two are so in love!" Erza teases and we chuckle

"Yeah we are." I murmur. Thoroughly enjoying the moment

"Get a room!" Happy yells as he flies overhead. Natsu jumps up and grabs him and he yells.

"Awww natsu leave him alone" I pout

"Yeah leave me alone." Happy says and jumps into my arms.

Natsu pouts and I kiss him. "Your so cute when you pout." I tease and he blushes and Lucy and Erza laugh.

We head home not long after that but natsu sends happy with Lucy so we won't be bothered with his teasing.
