"Come on, Val. Don't be so ridiculous." he joked as his grip on the steering wheel tightened.
It had been like this all morning.
Valentina had told him about wanting to join the homicide investigation department, but just like his answer was always served, he chewed up her words and spat them back as poison, not realising how much his toxic words were harming her confidence.
Pavements left saturated as the water started to evaporate with the morning Sun, everything was fresh apart from Valentina's mind.
Ever since she left the 7/11, she had started thinking about the case in full detail, but something was missing, the last piece of the jigsaw which revealed the whole picture in crystal was absent. Jungkook's nagging about all the reasons why she shouldn't join the detective career only just burying her mind into a hole which was harder to crawl out of.
"Why not? I'm perfectly able to look after myself and I don't want those three years of training going towards nothing. You've seen me in action before and you know I deserve to do something I'm not only good at but enjoy." she deflected, turning to see his face to become more and more restless.
"I thought you enjoyed working at your parents' shop?" he puzzled, only showing Valentina how he didn't know her as well as she thought he did. His image starting to become less and less transparent and more foggy.
"I've been working there for 15 years already, don't you think I'm tired of growing and selling flowers? Yes, I love it at the shop, but I love investigating more. Can't you just let me have this one thing, Kookie?" she pleaded as she put on her puppy dog eyes at him. Fluttering her eye lashes like a butterfly in a smooth breeze.
Gazing from his steering wheel for just a moment, seeing her like that. He couldn't lie to himself. Valentina had her fingers tightly and deeply intertwined with his heart strings, one small movement of her fingers could make his heart collapse. Utilising his love to control him like a puppet.
"Look... okay fine, but just because you have my blessing doesn't mean they'll hire you. You know what they said last time. However, if you get hurt, I'm going to have to say I told you so." he smiled at the end, trying to lighten up the atmopshere, but failing.
Soon after that, the raven pigmented car pulled into the side of the road, right besides a long queue of luxurious placed shops on the pavement.
A spark of interest grew in Valentina. Jungkook had told her that they were going straight to the station, so why were they here?
She looked out of the car window through the rogue dew drops still on the window, seeing such shops like Yves Saint Laurant, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci amongst many others. Suddenly, her eyes drifted across the name that every soon-to-be married woman wanted to see.
Piaget.
One of the most prestegious and luxurious jewellers in all of Korea. She knew Jungkook had already bought the engagement ring from the shop, but she certainly wasn't expecting to recieve another one from here.
She turned back round to the older man, mouth left open as she waited for him to answer.
"My shift doesn't start for another hour or so and I got a call last night from the captain... saying that Taehyung and I have been chosen to go to this police conference on Jeju Island to present the Sara Moretti and Jolie Marc case. So, since I'll be gone for a couple of days, I wanted us to do something special that goes towards the wedding." he smiled innocently before he started to get out of the car.
