School went by slowly from there, he even managed to stay out of trouble too.

But one thing Josh couldn't do is get that embarrassing interaction this morning out of his head. It made josh cringe thinking about it. He tried to shrug it off the best he could, trying to turn the negative into a positive, like, at least he met Tyler. So, he supposed it was okay.

The curly haired boy clutched onto his backpack straps, his strides fast and determined, he really wanted to get home before any of his siblings had the chance to raid the fridge.

"Ey, Josh, wait up!"

Josh spun on his heels confused. He was met with a tall Brendon at the start of the sidewalk, trailing behind him was a shorter, blank faced Tyler.

He waited for the boys to catch up with a soft grin, he was so excited to tell his brother all about these two.

Brendon didn't drag his feet, speed walking to his new friend with a happy introduction.

"Hey man ! How was your first day?"

"Pretty good actually, I got the chance to talk to the music teacher like I wanted too, he's a cool guy" Josh chuckled at the boys enthusiasm, his facial expressions were dramatic and passionate, he screamed theater kid.

"Mr. Collins? yeah dude's a legend!"

Josh smiled at him, turning his attention to tyler behind them. He didn't like that the boy trailing behind like that, it made his stomach flip sadly.

"Oh shit ! Hey, i'll catch you guys later, I completely forgot Ryan was going to come over today" he said out if the blue causing both Tyler and Josh to jump, "Promise to text ya ty !"

With that, Brendon quickly said his goodbyes, (giving them hugs), before speeding off in front of them, he looked ridiculous when he ran, his long legs looks so out of place Josh decided.

Now there were two.

"So.. how was the rest of your day?" Josh asked lightly, his hands felt sweaty all of a sudden, nerves in his throat. He didn't want to mess up with Tyler, especially after what Brendon told him.

"S'alright.. After lunch I had music, Mr. Collins is making our class do this project, which is basically just writing a song" Tyler grinned fondly, "He word-for-word said "poetry with music" and I almost lost it man"

The switch that Josh just seen was incredible, he seemed happy, like genuinely. It made his heart swell, the happiness rubbing off on him. He giggled at the story, watching Tyler do the same.

"You have a nice smile ty," Josh admitted.

A blush spread across his face, brows shooting up.

"O-Oh.. Thanks"

The boys walked side by side, talking about bands the two were interested in. Josh found out Tyler played a shit ton of instruments, the oddest being the Ukulele, but it made sense to him somehow.

Josh's house was first, making him feel bad for leaving Tyler to walk alone.

"Aw man.. This is my stop" he hummed sadly, watching Tyler deflate a little bit too, he was having fun with Josh, it felt weird to suddenly put that to an end.

"Alright man.. We always have tomorrow to talk, uhm.. Here... Let me give you my number"

Josh's eyes lit up at that, He was getting Tyler's number??? It sounded too good to be true. He dug into his back pocket for his device, opening his contacts to add the number,

"it's 614" Tyler started, "mhm," josh said in acknowledgment. "776," Tyler continued, "0961"

Josh beamed at him, typing 'Tyler 🍓' in the contact name.

"Thanks, i'll text you in a bit" Tyler gave a content nod, "bye jishwa" he hummed, earning a gentle 'bye' back. Today was really really good.
