The End of One Story, and The Start of Another
“You did quite the number on me as well, and for that I should tell you, I wasn’t even at full power.” Said Locke “I even learned something about your little delta protocol, you see, it’s not the swords that used the power. No, it was you using your own power, with the swords being your medium. I wonder how well you can use your powers now, but no matter how well, you won’t be able to stop me, or ground zero.” he continued. “We’ll see about that locke. You never want to underestimate my team.”
I looked around the room, it was trashed and torn up. It looked like there was only the four of us, but that doesn’t mean that theres other people around us. It seems like our best plan of escape would be the windows, but with no other type of way to land, we’d be dead on impact. It truly an issue on our part, meanwhile Locke is smiling because we must look like trapped rats.
“Well only because you managed to damage me, I’ll allow you to choose where you want to finish this.” Locke said. This only made the predicament much more difficult. If we went to the streets, there’s no telling what the collateral will be, and the roof of this building only had so much room. “We’ll take the roof. I don’t want anyone to get involved other than us.” Said Clark. “This is either the best or worst idea you’ve had Clark, and I damn well hope its the first.” Said Scarlet. “I concur” Said Ark. Well, it seems like we’re in a pickle.
After we all moved up to the roof an idea struck me; maybe I could use DP without my swords. “Ark, will it be possible to use DP without my swords? If I use my swords, I may level the city, but if I use martial arts, we may have a chance yet.” I ask. “Hm…. I’ve never thought about it, but it may be. However your movement, and power would be reduced by 5%, and you’ll lose access to manifesting your aura and life force.” he responded. “Thats all I need to know.” I said. “You better not be planning something without us Issac.” Said Scarlet. “You know it. It is one of my key traits Scarlet.”
The roof seems to be about 10 meters in perimeter, good, that gives us some room. “Locke, I want to challenge you to a one on one. I don’t want to get any of my friends involved, and they won’t get involved either.” I said. This gave me some room to go all out, because if I hit one of my friends, things would go sour really fast. “Fine, a one on one with me. Winner takes all, and you know this is a fight to the death.” he replied. “If I didn’t I would let them help.” I countered.
After I told my friends to head to cover, I stood toe to toe with Locke. He was clearly at the advantage, he stood at least a good 4 inches above me, and he looked like he hasn’t missed a training session in a while. Meanwhile I was smaller than him, however he wasn’t the only one who has been training for these last 2 years. This was going to be a tough fight.
Neither one of us made the first strike, most likely because we were sizing each other up. Suddenly Locke made a move, and as a reflex I jumped back a good meter. We then started to circle each other when I noticed something off. First of all Locke’s gait was slightly lopsided, I assumed it was from when he was blown into the Verge Forest, then I noticed a slight glint about 500 feet in the distance. “You’ve gotta be kidding me. Looks like we have a third party joining in now.” I said. The moment I finished that sentence I heard a faint bang, it belonged to a gun.
Having no idea where the sniper was aiming, I kicked off the ground a little harder than I meant to. The ground below me had a small crater a few inches in diameter, but that wasn’t the biggest concern. What was is that not only did I dodge the bullet, but Locke did as well, however the bullet wasn’t aimed at us. It was aimed at Scarlet! I had no way to warn her, the bullet was moving too fast, and Scarlet wasn’t aware of it yet. Time seemed to slow down, slow enough that I could see the bullet as it moved, Locke seemed to be frozen in the air, but I was more surprised that Clark seemed to be moving at normal speed. He was going full sprint at Scarlet, but the bullet was already a few inches away from Scarlet.
