"There Are No Happy Endings."

“You’re Issac The Demon Slaying Chimera.” Shiro repeated. I couldn’t think of anything other than those six words. It was impossible, right? A Chimera is a cross between an animal and a human, just a human Chimera was physically impossible, at least by the definition. I thought about all my encounters up until now, all of the ones that were close were physically impossible at least by a normal human. I thought about both encounters with Locke, both of which were close calls, but they both were similar. In the first I broke numerous bones, and was bleeding inside at an abnormal rate. An average human wouldn’t be able to survive, much less be conscious for as long as I had in the first encounter. With all the blood I lost in the second encounter was the same way.

My fight with Thanatos was the closest encounter by far. His first attack alone would’ve killed any human, even my friends who were already abnormal. Ark had told me that he moved my aura to defensive positions, but I don’t even that would’ve helped. I managed to kill him according to Shiro, but how? I remembered releasing my most powerful attack; Holy Demon Slayer, but it was in a different form from the last time I used it. It represented my swords, instead of the hard light it did at Rust Ridge. In fact just beating the S class Chimera Thanatos was a feat that no single human could do, at least that I knew of. “Let’s assume that I am alright? What features would point that out?” I asked.

“Well, your left arm is a dead give away. You can’t move it right? That’s because you attacked a true demon, and used a holy-demonic type of attack. Those absorb the essence from a demon or holy creature. You’ll regain movement in that arm eventually, but the color won’t entirely disappear.” Shiro said. Shiro looked happy to explain why I would fall under that category, and would even do flips in the air as she continued.

“The holy-demon attribute is an impossible attribute for humans to use. They can use both at the same time, however in one attack they cannot attack using the holy-demon attribute. The reason being is…” Shiro’s face turned grim. “The strain of using it would kill them. Even if they survive from using it, they would die from absorbing an essence that may or may not be correct. Simply put, the human body can’t handle having multiple attributes on them.” “Well if that’s the case, how are there multiple duel attribute and a single triple attribute aura users?” I asked.

“I never said anything about aura usage, did I?” Shiro said with a sly grin. “What? How is that possible?” I asked in surprise. “You see, our special attribute, isn’t an aura based attribute. Ours runs on our life essence.” Shiro said. “That explains why Ark said that it shaves years off my life.” I said while piecing the puzzle together. “ Correct. There is one difference between us, and the other Chimera’s though. That is we can’t die, even if killed. We are immortal, which gives us access to unlimited essence usage, but don’t be mistaken, it doesn’t mean we can’t pass out.” Shiro said warningly.

“Your example would be perfect. You had a hole blown in your chest, and multiple burns when I found you. You would be dead, if you weren’t a god class Chimera. Instead, you healed normally, but even that much took a month and a half to heal, on top of the essence being used.” Shiro explained. “I would estimate you would’ve healed in a day if you didn’t use any essence. Also from what I’ve heard, you’re pretty popular among humans too, and can heal to a degree based on your own aura used.” Shiro said. “Well what would happen if I used a massive amount of essence?” I asked confused. “Well you would pass out from anywhere from a day to a thousand years depending on how massive you’re talking about.” Shiro said.

“Breaking that box you were trapped in would’ve put me or Bahamut out for a day because we have control over how much we expend. I should also mention the recovery wouldn’t take immediate effect until we take sufficient damage, or go to sleep. You, however, used a whole month’s worth of essence to break the box, it’s a miracle you didn’t wipe the lake and everything else within ten miles off the map.” Shiro blankly stated. “That little amount of essence could’ve done that much damage?” I said flabberghasted. I looked at my right hand and thought about it. That little could do that much damage? No wonder god class Chimeras are so dangerous.
