After the electric knight took the decision of sending the new recruits straight to the arena without further training to fight each other, Blizzard got enough of this, and decided to explain to the king about this outrageous situation. The king wasn't very happy about it either, calling out the electricity knight about him not asking permission about such a harmful action, calling him incompetent, risking Red's position as the King's second hand.
This caused the bond that the red and blue knight had to be fractured.
Raymond avoided Blizzard almost every second he could, but the ice knight attempted to reason with his comrade several times along with the fire and poison knight. The ice knight thought that his friend was a childish man, and after the failed attempts to reason with him, he just gave up.
Vermont the poison knight tried to motivate the ice knight to keep going, maybe it would get fixed. While the fire cavalier thought it would be a better idea to let time fix it.
Blizzard just gave up and hoped that everything would be for the better. Maybe that he would be mature one day.
The trainings became less frequent amongst the four. The ice, poison and fire knight hung out more, the electricity cavalier becoming more and more distant, telling himself he would be one of the most powerful of the four on his own.
Despite this grey cloud between the colored knights, for the rest of the royal army everything seemed pretty decent, even for Bennett, who developed an older brother like bond with Artemisa in almost a short amount of time. Sure, the girl missed her mother, but the time in the castle was more than enough to develop an attachment to this anxious grey cavalier, considering him like family. After almost every fight, the girl would occasionally run towards the grey knight asking how she did, not to mention the common wounds she would get in the training.
Wound after wound, Bennett aided her when needed. Even after loosing a combat, he would do everything to comfort her, telling her how brave she was. Artemisa would go back to the coliseum with a confident air afterwards.
However, as Bennett developed a bond with this girl, he felt also anxious about her being sent outside with said flaw.
He already knew the dangers, and sometimes would advice Artemisa to stay in the castle no matter what.
Artemisa also made a friend, and that was the boy she battled the first day, Dan. After Dan apologized continuously to her for the wound, she finally decided to forgive him that same day, and now they were aquaintences.
Training day after training day, things seemed wonderful.
But That was some time ago.
6 months went by until one night, the grey cavalier decided to take quiet stroll around the castle since Lane offered to take the turn. His slow steps made it through the halls.
A peaceful silence took over the massive halls where Bennett was strolling by, until something just...didn't feel right. He opted to brush it off, maybe it was the dinner he had that same evening, it would pass eventually.
Nonetheless, this feeling lasted more than he though as he kept his steady steps through the castle. It felt similar to a stomachache, at the same time like a knot on his stomach tightening around him.
He decided to finally look around the castle.
Everyone was sleeping. Yet this was not enough for him to stay calm.
Passing in front of every door, the feeling of the knot around his stomach got tighter and tighter. Until he went upstairs, the recruits's room. From that moment, the feeling became sharper. Bennett could've sworn that he felt squeezed by a tightening rope.
