"Look at you, it seemed like just yesterday!"
"What do you mean?"
"Look at the mirror to find out!"
As soon as the young one turned around to face a small cristaline square, she could, indeed, find out what made her mom look in joy: She was wearing a clean, white shift with a brown long sleeveless woolen tunic, secured by two straps over her shoulders. Her golden locks where tied on a ponytail held tight by the bright red bow, and her small, expressful emerald eyes accentuated her hair along with her freckles all the way to both sides of her head. In the meantime, her mom was observing her while wearing a long rag dress.
"My... You look gorgeous!" Her mother exclaimed with both of her hands on her mouth, covering her urge to cry, however her teary olive eyes were enough to make her daughter to notice.
"Mom," she softly spoke turning back to her, "I'll be fine! I swear!"
The lady wiped away a couple tears with her rag sleeve, trying to keep a smile on her face, rushing afterwards to her child to wrap her arms around her at the verge of sobbing. The girl hugged her mother figure back with a sad smile. It was all so sudden and strange for what happened the other day.
"One more thing." Added the grown woman, "Please remember to be careful when you run, remember that-"
"I promise, I'll take good care of myself!"
"Good." Sighed the mother to show a warm smile, "I know you will."
A knocking noise broke out the silence making the two of them turn around at the door.
"Hello?" A low male voice asked through it, "Is anyone here?"
The door slowly creaked open letting sunlight illuminate the inside of the house a lot more. The man entering wore the characteristical white tunic, with a red cross on the center and cavalier armor, except that he wasn't wearing his helmet this time, showing his messy dark brown hair and semi pale skin and brown eyes, with his red helmet being held by both of his hands.
"Good day. I have come for our next recruits, or defenders."
"Welcome sir, and yes, we are aware."
The red knight slowly turned his head to the side to look at the little girl standing right next to him. "Is she the new recruit?"
The woman nodded as she held a look of worry on her face.
"She will be fine in the castle." The man stated noticing her expression. "In case something happens, we'll attend her properly as soon as possible."
"Right..." Sighed the woman with her tired eyes facing the ground, "Sorry for doubting about it. Before you leave... May I just speak to my daughter for a moment?"
Nodding, the cavalier backed up a couple steps to the door, patiently with the same serious expression.
The woman put her hands on her child's shoulders, ready to say goodbye with her tired glare and a forced smile. "Please take care and be good, alright?"
Her child responded with a small smile followed by a tight hug.
"Tell me when you're ready." Raymond coughed, observing the scene with his dark brown eyes with a small tint of bitterness through them.
"Oh, right." The lady chuckled lightly as she sat down watching her daughter walk out the door, the red knight following her. The chuckle slowly faded into silence, with her smile turning into a sad one, her eyes looking sadder than a rainy day in winter.
