"Good luck", Jess said after me.

I took a deep breath to calm myself. It was just another Thursday, Sara. You had nothing to lose.

It was Thursday, 12 p.m. when I clocked out, at about lunchtime. Michael had let me leave, but I had to promise him I would come back for the remaining hours I had missed in my appointment.

I had finished my files from the morning and my presentation after lunch had to be postponed to the evening.

Why?

Because today I had another appointment with my lawyer and my soon to be ex-husband.

Well, I prayed it would be soon.

My lawyer smiled and pushed out the chair for me, got his papers ready and we waited for Noah Atkins to come.

Noah immediately searched the room for me as he entered and frowned. As always, he was wearing a suit like his lawyer, but it was way less expensive. It was too long at his sleeves and the pants too short, like the usual.

Once he sat down, I gave him the ring. I just wanted this to be over.

"I don't need it anymore."

The man I had once loved unconditionally scanned it with an angry expression. "I saw that you didn't wear it as I entered the room. You are still married to me, Sara."

"I don't want to be; that's why I'm here."

Noah's brown eyes got emotional. "After all we've been through?"

"You cheated on me for a whole year. You can't stay loyal. Were you even loyal when we had been just dating?"

He looked down. I knew what that meant.

"I knew it. Why did I even bother to use my whole strength to save this? You were a cheater from the very beginning!"

"I was sad, Sara! I felt like you didn't love me! You never wanted to have sex in our relationship!"

"Because it's against my religion!", I huffed. I crossed my arms. "So, because I didn't have sex with you, because you didn't tell me what bothered you, you went behind my back and slept with all the women who agreed to it?"

Noah's foot was tapping rapidly. It was a sign of uncertainty; I just knew from the many years we had been together.

"You know what I felt like? I felt like scum. A piece of shit. Worthless. Ugly. Undesirable. You slept with all those women, brushed it off whenever I caught you, told me I was 'overreacting'", I shook my head at the heavy heart I got. "And it didn't hurt me to be neglected?" "If you really felt that way, you should have come to me and told me so! I can't read your mind, Noah!"

I pointed my finger at him. "Also, whenever I tried to save this marriage, you just sat there and did nothing! You went to another woman instead!"

"To heal my wounds", his voice sounded strained.

Noah brushed his brown hair back, sighing deeply. He was so different to Michael.

He sat slumped, unsure of himself, with this miserable expression which made me furious. He played his puppy act as if he was the saint and I the sinner, and not the other way around.
