Sara's POV
Gordes
Michael's bedroom
4 am
Michael and I exchanged a tired glance as Esi tossed yet again in her sleep.
I now understood why Michael had groaned in protest and why Leon and Rebecca had giggled so gleefully - Estelle was a rowdy sleeper, just like Emma had once been.
She tossed in her sleep. Never laid still. And this had been going on since 10 pm.
One minute she'll slap her hand or arm on your face, the other she will kick you in the rib, or her little body will be spread across you, not allowing you to move. If you fell asleep, she made sure to kick you awake. The times I flinched or jolted awake this night were uncountable.
Estelle rolled into the middle, lying on her side, her legs stretched apart, her little mouth open as she was breathing.
We both laid a hand on her stomach, patting her softly. Esi stopped tossing for a few seconds. We tiredly sighed with a weak smile on our faces. Michael puffed his cheeks and widened his eyes, silently conveying 'that was a handful' before we laid down and carefully let our hands rest on her little body. We crossed our fingers and hoped she wouldn't budge anymore.
"Hopefully our kids won't be such rowdy sleepers", Michael whispered, tugging Estelle in again.
"Emma was like that too as a child", I warned him. "As was Sebastien", Michael sighed. "Let's just hope genetics skip that one."
Estelle moved her head into my arm, almost cuddling it. I kissed her forehead. "I'm sure we won't mind with our own kids", I brushed her brown curls out of her squishy face. Such puffy cheeks!
"Probably", Michael leaned over and kissed my cheek, then Esi's. "Let's hope we can sleep the remaining few hours."

Birds were chirping loudly outside, waking me up gradually. Just like in Austria, I thought, so unnaturally loud.
My hand touched the empty spot next to me. I dared to open my eyes slightly. Esi wasn't laying next to us anymore. She was sitting on Michael instead, who was on his side, trying to wake him up.
I moved my head towards the clock on the wall. 6 am. I sighed tiredly, groaned as I got up. I picked Esi up from him and she let out a furious cry in protest. "No Esi, let him sleep", I mumbled weakly, pressing her into a hug. "Let's go downstairs to the others, ok?"
"No - Esi play with Miche!", Estelle protested, face red and cheeks puffed.
"Miche is asleep, Miche wants to sleep some more", I got us out of bed, ignoring her slapping my arms and shoulders as I carried us down the stairs. I kissed her forehead as she gave up, plopping her head on my shoulder with a frown.
Leon laughed as he saw me, taking Esi off me. "You look awful", he grinned.
I shot him a death glance.
"You certainly learned from Michael", Leon smiled cheekily, shrugging his shoulder up and raising his brows amused. "Are you hungry? Marthe is making breakfast."
Adrien jolted out the kitchen at our voices. He beamed at me. "Tatie!"
"Hello Adrien", I got down on my knees to hug him. Unlike Esi, Adrien wasn't clingy at all. The hug, my kiss on his nose, that was more than enough for him. He ran back to the kitchen where I heard Rebecca and him talk again.
