theres sunlight dripping from you
like the brine left over
warm and salty and full on your skin
after a day on the oceani stretch into you
a cat napping in a patch of sun
and i feel it melt into my bloodstream
honey colored warm as amber
wash my gray skies awayi wish i was a being such as you
and
i wish summer could last forever
and
i wish i never had to wash the salt out of my hair
and
i wish i didnt rub the sun out of my skin
and
i wish the daylight never had to fade but
this sunlight is artificial
fluorescent and blinking
and ive stared at it so long ive gone blindthis coldness will last forever
like the brine left over
a salty sludge of ice on your skin
after a day on the sea
