You would think having messy twins around the house would make Marcos and Sophia less likely to adopt a dog, but that wasn't the case.
It was a Friday afternoon and Shannon and Lance were biking home after an afternoon with tía Alicia.
"Lance, ¡mira!" [look] Shannon excitedly pointed to a little stack of boxes and trash.
"We're not taking any of that ew."
"Lance you idiot, something in there moved!" As soon as she said that a box fell off the trashcan it was on.
"Oh, let's check it out!" Lance said.
"I was just thinking that," Shannon said.
"Well you weren't thinking load enough for me to hear," Lance said stepping forward. Shannon grabs his hand and walks with him. There's one particular section of junk that's shaking so they approach the back corner. They both reach out and on the count of three, they yank a big cardboard box away.
Underneath the box was a white and golden Havanese puppy.

[so cute! This is her]

"Awww," Shannon and Lance say at the same time. The poor dog looked so scared. Lance picked her up and put her in the basket on his bike. The puppy visibly calmed down when she was safe in the basket.
"We're taking her home. No questions asked!" Lance stated.
"I'm not arguing but what about mamá y abuelita? They might not want a dog in our house." Shannon replied.
"Sometimes you gotta take risks gemela," Lance says sticking his pinky finger out.
"Gemelo, you know I'm all about taking risks!" Shannon replied wile interlocking her pinky with his.
"I know, I know, Abuelita might get mad but we got to. Besides we aren't gonna just leave the poor girl here," Lance stroked the puppy's head.
"You're right, and hopefully we can keep her for good!"
"Mamá does like perros."

"You found her WHERE?" Sophia cried out.
"Abandoned on the street. She had no where else to go mamá," Shannon said sitting down in the carpet with the dog on her lap.
"Just look at the poor girl," Lance said, "look at all this cuteness!" Sophia looked into the puppy's eyes, then her kids. Her glare slowly melted into a smile. She kneeled down and brought her children into a hug.
"Oh mijos, I-I," she sighed and looked at the dog one lasts time, "aw fine what's his name?"
"Her name's Sebastián!" Lance and Shannon said at the same time.
"Oh wow," Marcos said from the doorway, "that's an interesting name for our dog."
"She looks like a Sebastián though!" Lance said.
"Wait papá, does that mean... you'll let us keep her too?" Shannon said, as a smile crept up her face.
"Of course mija, come here," he replied. Shannon squealed and ran over to her dad to give him a hug.
"Yay! I can't believe we have our very own perrito!" Shannon said dancing around the room.
"What was that?" Abuelita said hobbling into the room.
"Mira! Mira!" Lance said, "we got a perrito!"
"¿Qué? ¿Un perrito? ¿En esta casa? There's so many messes happening already! Imagine all the other chaos with a little dog running a round!"
"Abuelita please," Sophia said, "look how happy the children are," she pointed to the twins.
"And besides, they promise to take care of it 100%!" Marcos said, "right chicos?"
"Sí! Sí! Por favor Abuelita," Lance said.
"Please, look how cute she is," Shannon added.
"Fine but don't say I didn't warn you," Abuelita said leaving the room. The kids cheered. Luis and Veronica rushed in and scoped up the twins in their arms.
     "You did it!" Veronica yelled.
"We've been trying to get a dog for like ever!" Luis added.
"Where did you two come from?" Marcos asked with a laugh.
"We may or may not have been listening to you from behind the door," Veronica mutters, "but that's not important, we have a dog!!!!!!"
     "And her name's Sebastián!"
"Really? Are you sure that's a good name for her?" Veronica asked.
"They're the reason we got a dog so they should get to decide what to call her," Luis answered.
"Fine Sebastián it is" everyone started cheering again.

Abuelita was happily proven wrong, the twins took great care of Sebastián. She secretly favor the twins over everyone es in the family. After all, it was the twins that saved her.
The twins loved playing with Sebastián. They would play fetch, tug of war, and go on adventures. She also liked riding in the baskets of the twins bikes.
