Chapter 14: Reece Mastin – shut up and kiss me
Jack’s POV:
I sat on the floor by the couch with Scarlett in my arms. I sat there silently as Scar slept against me. I felt like I was finally complete and that without Scar I would be lost. I decided then that I would never let her slip out of my hands again; I would never walk away from her no matter what happens.
After a while I heard Ashton come in.
“Hey man we’re going to go and get some food so we will be gone for a while, but I think you should wake her and look at that arm of hers soon.” Ashton said, motioning to her bloody arm that she had cradled in her lap.
I nodded. “Yeah I will thanks mate.”
Ashton smiled grimly at me and then turned and left the room. A few seconds later I heard the front door open and then close. We were finally alone. I left Scar to sleep a little longer then I decided it was time to look at her arm.
I gentle nudged her. “Scar wake up.” I whispered.
Scar groaned.
“Scar wake up, we have to sort this arm of yours out.”
I nudged her again and watched as her eyes fluttered open. Her face was still pale and her eyes a little red but she looked a lot better than she did before.
“Come on Scar lets go to the bathroom and get you fixed up.” I pushed myself up and then pulled Scar to her feet and led her to the bathroom.
I sat her on the edge of the bath tub. I then turned to the bathroom cupboard and pulled out the small first aid kit we kept in there. I opened it up and began pulling out bandages and wipes, as well as antiseptic cream. I then picked up a cotton wipe and put a bit of water on it. I picked up Scar’s arm carefully and began wiping away the blood. I cringed when I saw the cuts become more defined. There were five or six deep cuts ranging down her forearm.
“I’m sorry Jack.” Scar mumbled.
I looked at her and noticed that she had been watching me cringe at the wounds.
“Don’t be.” I told her and then looked back down at her arm.
I put the bloody wipes in the bin and picked up the antiseptic cream and began putting it over the cuts. I then grabbed the bandage and began rolling it around her arm, starting at her wrist and working it around almost up to her elbow.
When I was finished I put everything away and then turned back to Scar. I watched as she studied the bandage on her arm.
“You’ve gotten good at that.” She said softly.
“I’ve had practise.” I mumbled.
Scar’s head shot up and looked at me. I saw a flash of guilt cross her face and I immediately felt guilty for what I said.
“Shit, I’m sorry Scar, I didn’t-“
“No its fine, it’s the truth.” She cut me off before getting up and walking out of the bathroom and into the bedroom.
I followed her and watched as she went over to the wardrobe and pulled out a fresh pair of jeans and a jumper. She ripped her bloody top and pants off and threw them in a pile near the door. I gazed over her body and noticed how skinny she was. She was so thin; I could see the outline of her ribs as she pulled on her jumper.
Scar finished dressing and then turned to me. I felt my cheeks heat up as I realised I had just been caught watching her dress like a pervert.
Scar smiled. “Busted.” She joked and I smiled at her. It was nice to see her smile again, after everything she has been through in the last twenty-four hours she needed to smile.
