The Wanted: All Time Low

I woke up to my mother shouting at me from downstairs.

“Scarlett! You have a visitor.”

I groaned as I opened my eyes and light flooded into them. I pushed myself up off the bed and regretted it instantly as a sharp pain sliced through my temples and the room began to spin.

“Never again will I drink.” I mumbled loudly to myself.

“I’ve heard that before.” A voice said from my door.

I spun around to face my intruder.

“Jack? What are you doing here?” I asked him.

“Well you said that I should come over today and that we could talk. Remember?”

I thought back to last night.

“Oh yeah I do.”

“Well I might wait for you downstairs while you freshen up a bit ok.” Jack said as he turned and left my room.

I slowly got out of bed and walked down the hall to the bathroom. I avoided the mirror, as I knew my reflection would give me night mares, and quickly jumped in the shower and washed my hair. I then jumped out and got dry and wrapped a towel around me.

I combed out my hair and applied a small amount of make-up. I then picked up my pyjamas and walked back to my room to get dressed. I dumped my clothes on the chair in my room and closed the door behind me. I walked over to my wardrobe and picked out some jeans and a blue top. I then grabbed a bra and a pair of undies. I was just about to drop my towel when someone spoke.

“Please don’t drop that.” They said from over near my bed.

I looked up and found Ashton sitting on my bed.

I let out a small scream “What the hell are you doing in here!” I shouted as I clutched the towel to my naked body.

“Well I wanted to ask you something, but I can see that you’re busy.” Ashton began to stand up.

“Hang on, I’ll quickly get changed and then we can talk.” I told him as I grabbed my clothes and went behind my Chinese inspired room divider.

“So what did you want to ask me?” I asked from behind the screen.

“Well I wanted to ask about last night, about what happened in the car. Your mother said that she would explain it today but I wanted to hear it from you. If you don’t want to tell me then that’s fine, your mother will just tell me later.”

I didn’t respond straight away.

“It’s complicated.”

“What complicated enough for Mason to know, but not me?” Ashton snapped back.

“How do you know Mason knows?” I snapped back angrily and appearing from behind the screen fully dressed. “Did he say something?”

“No he never said anything. But he was really quiet last night and he had that look on his face, the one that says I know something you don’t but I can’t say. Like he was afraid of what would happen if he told. He had the same look on his face when he broke Mum’s favourite vase when we were little and no one knew about it.”

I pursed my lips while I thought about whether to tell Ashton or not. He did have a right to know, he was about to become my step-brother.

“Fine I’ll tell you. But keep it to yourself, don’t spread it around your friends, don’t tell them how your about to inherit a crazy person for a sister.”
