"This is nice," Mitch smiled, playing with the ring on Scott's middle finger. They were sitting across from each other in a tiny café around the corner from the bakery and were waiting for their food to arrive.

"It is," Scott smiled. "So-" he started to say, when the waiter brought out their food. They thanked him and he left.

"This looks so good," Mitch grinned, picking up a chicken finger from his plate and breaking it apart. Steam drifted from it lazily and Scott was almost not surprised when Mitch started eating one of the halves.

Clearly Mitch liked hot things, Scott noted. Coffee, chicken strips, sunshine.

"Aren't you burning your mouth?" Scott asked with amusement, twirling his fork around in his pasta.

Mitch shook his head. "It cooled down a little when I broke it apart, so it's not too hot," he replied.

Scott didn't comment, busying himself with trying his own lunch. The pasta was pretty good, he thought after one bite, but Mitch's was definitely better. The sauce had a bit too much garlic. He grabbed the cheese and poured it on in an attempt to make it better.

"So I quit my job today," Scott said casually, taking another bite.

Mitch smiled, eyes twinkling as the sun outside reflected off them. "Finally!" He exclaimed. "I was wondering when you'd do that!"

Scott shook his head fondly and giggled. "Yeah, I'm so happy. I should've done it a long time ago."

"I'm so happy for you!" Mitch said. "We should celebrate!"

"Movie night?" Scott replied, reaching across the table to hold Mitch's hand.

Mitch nodded happily. "Sure! Can I come to your place? I don't want my roommates to join us tonight."

Scott laughed. "Of course you can," he said.

"Are you going to look for a job now?" Mitch asked after a moment.

Scott shrugged. "Maybe. Probably."

"Okay," Mitch smiled. "If you decide to, I can help you look. If you want, of course."

Scott laughed. "I'd like that," he said.
