Ch. 5

I told shawn everything that happend during the cruise. He was super surprised and couldn't believe Matt would act that way, he was never like that.

It was now Monday and spring break was over. I got back from the cruise on Saturday and spent all of Sunday sleeping and hanging out with Shawn. I haven't even seen Matt since the cruise.

Today was the day I had to go back to school. I woke up extra early and wanted to look nice today. I put on a floral Brandy Melville dress, a black cardigan and a pair of high top converse. I put on some makeup and just left my hair natural.

Shawn was walking me to school today because I hate walking alone. I ran downstairs, grabbed a granola bar and my school bag and ran out the door. I walked straight to Shawn's house which was right down the street and we walked to school.

We hit the front doors of our school and saw the popular group laughing and whispering something about us. I was used to it so I just moved on. I saw Matt and smiled at him, he just turned around. That was a bit weird..

I had math first and I sat next to Matt who I really didn't notice I ever sat next to until today. Most of my classes id just keep my head down and try not to participate. But today, we had a partner project my teacher was assigning to us.

She picked partners, I wanted to be partnered up with Shawn but he got partnered up with some girl. Matt, Angela, Nick and I were the last ones to be picked. I was hoping to get anyone but Matt, but of course I got Matt.

Angela was one of the meanest girls in school and had a huge crush on Matt. She turned to Matt and said "Be careful with that slut Matt." Matt seemed to just ignore her. I sat next to Matt while everyone stared at me, it was really awkward at first. Matt just acted if we were normal just partnered up for a project. I was really confused.

The class ended and it was time for lunch. Me and Shawn always sat alone at the table way in the back. I could hear everyone talking about me walking down the halls, most of the crap didn't bother me. Like I said I was used to it.

I sat down next to Shawn.
"You okay Jade??" Shawn questioned
"Um yeah, matts just acting weird..."
"How?"
"He doesn't even acknowledge me, he just acts like I'm one of the people in the school. I thought he actually liked me... And now I don't even know." I told him looking down at my food.
"Jade don't worry, your a great great great girl and he will be missing out with you." Shawn smiled.
"Anyways how are you??"
"Fine I guess" Shawn said.
"Anything happen while I was gone?"
"Nah just same boring old Woodbridge, Virginia."

*SHAWNS POV*
Matts such a douche, I don't even know why jade likes him. He forgets about her right after the cruise when he likes her?? I would never do that to Jade. I like jade too but I can never tell her that because it would totally ruin our friendship and she likes Matt.

Jade kept talking and I just agreed or nodded. I couldn't get me liking her off my mind.

The bell rang and we went to our classes. After school I couldn't find jade, she was always by her locker so we could walk home together. I looked around and still couldn't find her so I ended up walking home alone.

*JADES POV*
Matt pulled me into the janitors closet right after school so no one would see.
"Matt!!"
"Shhhh" he put a finger over my mouth.
"I'm sorry I've been ignoring you...it's just if anyone sees me with you people will think were dating or something. And I will get hate about it because I'm supposed to date "popular girls" and only hang out with "popular people." To me it really doesn't matter if you are or not I just don't wanna loose my friends....or you. Okay jade?"
"So now I'm unpopular??" I said back a bit angry.
"No no no that's what people think, I don't care to me your perfect and being popular or unpopular doesn't even matter. I hate being called "popular."
"Okay Matt..."
"But I was wondering if I could stop by your house later tonight?? Maybe??" He said and winked.
"Yes of course." I smiled.
"By the way you looked beautiful today." He said and kissed my cheek.

He then walked outside of the janitors closet and left. I walked out minutes later checking if it was clear. He's right he doesn't wanna get hate and neither do I. I don't want people to add onto the hate or start hating on matt because of me.

I totally forgot about Shawn!!! I texted him sorry and told him the good news about Matt. He never texted back after that though...

I walked home and turned on the TV waiting for Matt to text me about coming over.

At around 5 o'clock I got a text from Matt.
(TEXTING)
"Hey Jade can I come over now(;"
-Matt
"Yeah get over here(;"
-Jade
