New detective (Connor x Reader)

MISSION 2 - CHAPTER 5

After gazing into each others eyes Connor's LED turns yellow and back to blue "Detective, we have another case of a deviant suspectanly hiding in an abandoned building" Connor let's go of your hand and takes you from your chair "We should be get going then Conny!" You instantly mute yourself when you nickname him. Connor looks at your blushing face while confused "My name is Connor, not Conny" he doesn't know what a nickname is.

You both arrive at the building but no other police officers are there. You hit your back against the wall beside the door and hold your gun down to your feet "Connor, stay behind me while I search the house to make sure it is safe to move for you to investigate" you put on your serious face while Connor is still calm. He nods in response and you push open the door and check the perimeter while Connor stays behind you "It's clear" you sigh in relief and put down your gun "Go search around while I look in the other rooms" you command Connor and he follows your order, you smile a little and begin walking into the farthest cautiously, gun ready to aim at anything that moves, as you arrive into the room you are greeted by a whole gang of pigeons "now that's a lot of pigeons" you giggle a little and put your gun away. You begin investigating the room while the pigeons scatter a long you "Jesus this place stinks!" You hold your sleeve up to your nose to avoid the disturbing scent, as you cough because of the scent Connor walks into the room, he is not affected by the horrible scent "I don't care if our suspect is gone, we still need to look around Connor" he didn't even say anything but he just nods at you anyway. You look around and find a crack above the UFD poster "Connor I think I found something!" You yell to Connor while he is in the bathroom, checking out blue blood, you rip off the poster to find a book, you investigate the intriguing book and find weird but too perfect symbols to be scribbles "Connor, can you scan this to find out what it is?" You hand the book to Connor as you look into the closet to meet more pigeons "wow, these things are everywhere" you close the closet after all the pigeons come out "I have scanned the book and have failed to decipher the symbols" you look at Connor, surprised "This drawing must be just like the RA9 symbols we see then" you look into the fridge to find nothing "the suspect doesn't eat Connor, the fridge is too clean for that" you suspect Connor listened to you while he is silent "I have just scanned the license, it's fake." You hold the other end of the lisence and inspect "you're correct Connor, it is so detailed that a human wouldn't even notice" you smile at Connor for his findings and look in the bathroom sink "Connor, I found an LED, we can finally say that the suspected deviant is a deviant" you look at the removed LED and it's cracked screen "The deviant really didn't want to be caught huh?" You question in your head and look at the wall "Connor! There is more of this RA9 stuff!" You yell as Connor approaches the bathroom and looks at the messed up writing of 'RA9' written constantly all over this one wall. You step beside Connor and stare at it "any idea what it means?" You ask Connor as your concentration is all focused onto the writings "RA9..." Connor repeats the 'word' slowly "written 2471 times..." Your concentration is broken by his sentence "he can just calculate that all together?" You are hit in the heart by how intelligent he is and start blushing a little as he looks at you "It's the same sign Ortiz's android wrote on the shower wall..." He looks back at the 'words' as your eyes are caught by the same symbol that was on the book is there again as Connor questions "why are they obsessed with this sign?" You look at Connor, unable to answer his question, and back at the symbol "Looks like...mazes or something..." You stare deeper into the symbol and the 'words' thinking you would instantly get the answer but of course you didn't and go back into the other room to look at the same symbols and realise they are all over the place "This person is way too obsessed with this symbol, it's a like a fangirl with that sans the whatever" you investigate the kitchen area as Connor analyzes the stool in the corner of the bathroom and comes into the room again and analyzes something else on the floor "He's got something" you get away from the kitchen area and try your best not to disturb the android in his lead of the missing deviant. You look up to find anything on the ceiling to help Connor find the deviant faster "a hole in the corner..." You look at the hole and see that there is a chair underneath, Connor beats it to you and looks up the hole before he is flattened to the floor by the now running deviant "Connor!" You run to Connor to see that he is fine and start chasing after the deviant "detective wait!" Connor chases after you.

You run out of the apartment and go to full speed to catch the deviant. They block your way to make you slower but you dodge the obstacles and make it outside of the building "Stop right there!" You yell at the deviant who isn't stopping for one moment. You jump over the vents and jump through the huge sign of the building into the UFD field, the feild is long but that doesn't stop you, you take all the fast but risky routes and succeed with Connor behind you quickly gaining up to you. You go through the short detour because the green shed is too crowded and would only slow you down, as you slide down the tilted window panes you jump through the broken windows, still behind the deviant "Holy shit! That was too risky! I am not a parkour master!" You shout in your mind and race through the green hedges in the building with Connor beside you now, you go through the lavender garden and Connor goes through the route the deviant took. You jump onto the objects, all of what you done is fast but definitely risky, you slide down the window panes and dodge the opened windows with Connor and land on the train "It is obvious at this point they aren't gonna stop Connor!" You yell at connor while race towards the ladder beside the moving train and land perfectly onto it, so does Connor, and start climbing up it quickly. You jump into the tree garden and race through it with people yelling at you "Detroit police business shut up!" You yell back and jump up onto another roof, you're beginning to run out of breath, "Connor, I'm running out of breath! Don't stop for me!" You command him and he nods. You run into a crowded lettuce growing area but try your best to pass the obstacles as fast as possible and run into a corn field "shit! I can't see!" You push the corn out of the way and run blindly but make it through and tackle the deviant to the ground "Get off human!" The deviant pushes you off and makes you trip over the ledge, you grab onto the edge "I am not dying because of this deviant!" Connor picks you up "I said don't stop for me!" You yell while running after the deviant again. You wanted to thank Connor but there was no time! You reach to the end of the field and the deviant stops at the edge, Connor is beside you now, as you catch your breath the deviant looks at you, nearly crying "please, I've done nothing wrong..." They beg you "I just wanted to be free, you know what they'll do to me if you turn me in..." Connor only steps towards them, he is silent to their begging, Connor finally speaks for you "Model 874 004 961, serious malfunctions have been detected in your software, including class 4 errors." The deviant looks at Connor, disappointed by Connor call them out and not letting them free, "is this wrong?" You start to wonder, as the question echoes throughout your head Connor speaks again "You've been deemed defective, and will be sent back to CyberLife for deactivation." You feel pity for the deviant but look away from them while speaking "next time, you won't run away from us, ever again." You state firmly and aggressively but regret it so much "now come here." You grab the deviant and start cuffing them "why are you doing this?" The deviant looks at Connor "you're one of us!" You stay silent "you're just their slave!" You slap the deviant "shut up! He is not a slave!" You instantly calm down "don't hit androids, even if they are deviants, you will get fined for that Y/N" you warn yourself in your head "come along" you can't apologize but you want to so badly and bring them back to where you chased them from "RA9, save me." The android removes their self from your grip and starts running towards the edge "No wait, stop!" You run after the deviant but you couldn't stop yourself in time from dropping off of the edge and immediately grab onto the edge with all your strength. You try to calm down your heartbeat and look down to the now dead deviant "Jesus...christ..." The sight was horrifying as you were lifted up from the ledge by Connor and you cling onto him as he stares with no emotion at the ground with the dead deviant "what were they thinking?"

What were they thinking indeed.
