New detective (Connor x Reader)

MISSION 4 - CHAPTER 9

"Y/N! I have gotten an emergency report of 2 deviants and a child living in a rotting house! Pleased come outside!" Connor knocked on your door, rough, you didn't wanna see him. It was only 5 hours ago you kissed each other and you're still blushing 'you have a damn job to do Y/N! Stop being a child!' You sigh and get up from your bed. You open the before Connor can knock again, his eyes are showing a sign of something...feelings? No, he's a robot you were just being manipulative earlier! Right? You cough a little to gain his full focus onto you "let's go."

You stand outside with Connor at the decaying house "this is too dangerous for a child, didn't those deviants even think about their safety?" You shake your head in disappointment. You grab your gun and kick open the door "DPD! Give us the child and you will not be harmed!" You point your gun at a insane deviant that looks like an asylum escapist "g-good evening officer. Ralph has n-no children here! N-nope!" They look certainly cheerful...but scared at the same time "alright Ralph but, we will check the place right now and if there is a child here, you're getting deactivated" you put your gun away as Ralph gulps in fear "Ralph does not lie! R-Ralph promises that!" You search around the place as Connor scans the table in the rotting kitchen area. You look at fireplace 'fresh wood...androids don't need heat...' You look suspiciously at Ralph and then look at Connor 'they're still here...' You lip read to Connor and he understands immediately. You walk over to him and hear a creak under the stairs "get behind me Connor" you pull him back as you grab your gun. You slowly creak open the little door under the staircase and get pushed out of the way immediately by the other deviant "Run Alice!" The deviant starts running out of the building as you grab yourself up "Ralph you son of a bitch!" You do not shoot the deviant but run outside to chase the other one with the child "that child is more important than anything else Connor! You got it?!" You yell as you are gaining up on them "yes detective!" Connor gains up beside you as you both chase the two through sharp corners and irrational movements "They have nowhere to go now!" You shout out as the child and the deviant stare at the fence for a short second before the deviant climbs up over the fence with the child. You run to the fence "holy shit!" You are shocked as the deviant makes the child run through the very busy highway to the other side "I refuse to let that child go!" You climb over the fence before Connor can stop you and run into the highway. Cars are racing past you as your heart beats to their speed. You dodge most of the cars and grab onto the deviant as the child successfully passes through the highway and screams their name "stop resisting!" The deviant struggles with your grip until they push you into lane where a car is racing towards you. You brace for it, waiting to die but, you don't feel anything. You open you open yours eyes to see Connor holding you close and...crying? "Connor?" You look up at him as the rain hits your faces "I-I can't lose you detective..." Connor deepens the hug as he cries into your shoulder. That was so stupid of you. Androids can be copied and pasted. Humans only live once. You hug Connor and begin to shatter your heart "I-I'm so sorry! I was s-so stupid!" You blame yourself for everything as Connor looks at you again "I can't lose you because..." His eyes hypnotise yours "I love you Y/N..."

..."I love y-you too"...
