We found a small area of shelter on the edge of the woods to sleep in over night, we were almost there. We took our turns scouting out any Zs over night. I took down a few on my round. Soon the morning light began to peak through the trees, mark began to stir. I assumed he'd be getting up so I went for a little walk around the woodland area.

Marks POV~

I opened my eyes to see (y/n) slowly walking off into the forest. I briskly got up and threw my shirt on in a hope that I may talk to her.

"Hey (y/n)! Wait up!" I called after her catching her up.

"Oh hey mark what's up?"

"You' know... I just wanted to apologise for being a bit of a dick when I first met you. I must've come across as very harsh and rude and I'd like to have a second chance?" I nervously run my hand though my hair

"Ok. Hi! My names (y/n), yours is?" She outstretched her hand and I shook it with a smile

"Mark, mark fischbach" we continued to stroll through the woods, I glimpsed at her every now and then from the corner of my eye. The orange morning sun reflected of her (s/c) skin, and her (h/c) hair seemed to shimmy slightly down her shoulders and back. Although it was only a few seconds I seemed to captivated by her.... presence shall we say.

"Boi what you staring at?" She said in a joking matter

"U-uh... nothing!"

"Phfft, i can not believe you" she laughed.

"Let me know you're going into fairyland next time"

"Will do" by the time we finished our conversation we were back at camp and everyone was ready to leave.

"Hey (y/n)! I was wondering where you were!" Ethan came bounding up to (y/n), they seemed to have hit it off almost immediately.

"Hey Ethan you ready to move?" She walked along side him picking up her axe, guns and amo pouch.

Your POV~

Me and Ethan walked up front, scouting out for Zs.

"11:00!" Ethan says

"I'll take it!" I say excitedly. I've got to admit taking on the single Z excited me, it was easy peasy. Swinging my axe over my shoulder I skipped over to the rotting Z like a four year old child. The rest of the group looked at my actions questionably until with one flying swoop i chopped its head clean off.

"Show off" Sean snickered

"when it's easy kill like that there's no harm in a lil' style" I joke. We kept walking and soon I heard the sound of running water. And this water was running very quickly.

"It's the river! I can hear it!" Wade ran up ahead and we caught up. The river was a lot bigger than I remember. The water flow was so fast it was almost rapid speed, falling in was not an option, you'd definitely drown if you did. But luckily for us my plan was right. A sturdy dam had formed which would be fine for us to walk across.

"Come on guys lets go!"

"Lightest first" Ethan went first, he took my gear with him (amo, guns, axe etc) he made it across fine. I smiled at him and gave a thumbs up. He seemed a bit nervous. Next was Sean then wade, mark, Tyler and lastly me. As Tyler reached the other side a few bits of debris broke away making the path smaller. I nervously bit my lip

"Come on (y/n)! You'll be fine!" Mark called. I looked at the fast flowing rapids

"Oh jeeze... here I go" I stepped on the make shift bridge, it taking my weight although a few branches snapped below me. I stretched my arms out for balance and took it slow, a step at a time, soon I reached half way.

"That's it (y/n) you're doing great!" Ethan yelled.

"Hm this isn't too bad!..." I smiled to myself until...

SNAP

"Quick (y/n) run!" The branches below me gave way and I fell into the icy cold rapids.

Surely... this is my end?

Marks pov~

"(Y/N)!!" Ethan called wade held him back. I didn't even think twice: I threw off my shirt in one swift motion and went to the waters edge.

"Mark you're crazy! You'll never be able to help her!" Tyler said

"I have to try! Run along side the river bank with us" I dived in, the freezing temperatures taking me by shock. In the distance I could see (y/n)s head bob up every now and then gasping for air. I need to get to her and quick before she drowns. I kicked and kicked my legs, trying desperately hard to reach her. I used my arms pulling my self more. Far away in the distance I saw a log sticking out from the side of the bank. I have an idea. 

Frantically swimming to (y/n) i grabbed her; tightly wrapping my arms round her waist. I looked to the bank and the others were still running next to us. I pulled (y/n)s head up from under the water. She coughed and spluttered; her skin almost blue. Suddenly a wave almost seemed to overcome us and we were back under the water again. I pushed (y/n) up to the surface, she was weaker than I at the moment, I still had some fight in me. I resurfaced again and the log was very close. (Y/n) looked at me with droopy eyes.

"(Y/n) you've got to listen: we're gonna grab that log up ahead and hopefully the gang will help pull us back in. Got it?" She shakily nodded, her arms draped round my neck, all strength had left her. The log was close I could just grasp it....

There! I pulled my body weight onto the log, and pulled (y/n) onto it too. It wouldn't stay put long though, I could already see it moving.

"Mark!" It was Tyler and the others. I pushed (y/n) forward to get her out. Sean picked her up, placing an arm under her legs and another round her back. Tyler hauled me out of the water, and just in time to. The log snapped away into the river as soon as I left it. Sean had placed (y/n) on the ground, she had passed out from exhaustion. I took my

Dry top from wades hands and slipped it over (y/n)s head hopefully it would prevent hypothermia and keep her warm.

"Do you think she'll be ok?" Ethan asked

"She'll be fine. She's a fighter" I smiled at him. I let my body collapse onto the grass. She started to stir and she coughed again; colour returning to her cheeks. She let out an exasperated sigh and I chuckled lightly.

"It could only happen to you couldn't it (y/n)?"

"Shut up twat" she playfully tapped me, pretending to give a hearty slap.

"Is that all you got?" She laughed shakily, she glanced at me rolling her eyes. Placing an arm over her eyes.

"At the moment? Yeah." I stood up and outstretched my hand, she took it and I pulled her up.

"I'm so happy you're ok (y/n)!" Ethan immediately swamped her with a hug, she clutched him back

"Ha, that was nothing but a stroll in the park. No river can get me down" she flexed her muscles and the group laughs.

"Would you say my plan worked or not?" She asked

"Meh 50/50" Sean said she nodded and winked.

"You feeling better (y/n)?" Wade asks

"Yeah, lets keep going, oh and mark I think this is yours" she takes off my top and hands it back

"Thanks" she beams a smile at me which seems to shine. She grasps her axe (which she throws over her shoulder again), amo and guns. She kept all her amo in a small bag that was tied round her waist and her guns tucked under a belt she wore. She took a deep breath and we continued.
