QOTD: If the world was going to end today, what would you do?

Your golden watch strapped to your wrist clicks to the beat of the heart inside your chest. Anxiously, you peek out the window of the restaurant.

There are little drops of raining dripping down the glass. People rush by with colorful umbrellas and raincoats. Some have bags and children in strollers sucking on plastic toys.
'He should have been here an hour ago.'

The waitress walks over to you with downward lips.
"Do you want me to take your order?"
She pulls out a notepad and pen, looking down at you.

"Yeah. Sure...I'll just have an entrée of pork dumplings, please."
The waitress scribbles your order done and asks if you would like a drink.

You wanted to save room for dinner, so you order a water. She leaves soon after. The dining area is packed with thousands of millionaires and billionaires.

You notice a suspicious couple across from you. A boy with curly red hair and glasses gazes into the black-haired boy's eyes. None of them move an inch.
The food placed on their table remains untouched.
'Creepy'..

You felt a tingling sensation up your spine when Nate finally arrived. You didn't feel relieved, just scared. Something didn't feel right.

"Good evening, kind specimen." His dark eyes never met yours as he spoke.

"H-Hello."

"I see you've ordered already."
You glance at the dumplings the waitress placed in front of you. You were so nervous that you didn't even notice her.
"Would you like anything else?" She asks.
Before you could decide, Nate orders for the both of you.

"We would like four of the spring rolls and an order of the sesame chicken, please."

"Coming right up." She walks away to another location but the second you take your eyes off her, the waitress is out of sight.

There was silence between the both of you. Your friends from long ago walk past you, whispering amongst each other. The sweat on your collarbone trails down and sticks to your nice white button-up.

Nate tilts his head.
"You seem nervous."

"I just feel a little down."

..."How long have you been alone?"

'What?'
"What are you talking about?"

"Did you really think this was a real date? Pathetic."

The restaurant flashes bright, vibrant colors. The people in the building abruptly shift in their chairs, almost like a lagging computer.
'What the heck...'

"Why are you here? It's useless trying to find an outlet to your past here. Especially with me. You only just met me!"

"Please stop. I don't know what's going on..." The upper-classes disappear after you speak.

Then, it all came together.
"I'm not really here, am I."

"You're late for work..."
Nate's eyes turn completely pitch black while his teeth extend out of his mouth into razor sharp spears.

"This is all in my head."

"You're late for work..." He says.

"I'm just in my own fantasy."

"You're late for work!"

You inhale deeply for air as you jolt out of bed to the rhythmic sound of the alarm clock. That familiar ringing led you to the old piece of film in the back of your mind, cluttered with dust particles and spider webs. The ancient memory projects into your thoughts of 9th grade, the most chaotic time of your life.

Since the video you watched yesterday, you've been really creeped out.
But today you were getting to the bottom of it.

You had informed Ms. Darling of the incident, and she informed you to stay off your phone as much as you could until the suspect was caught.

Your phone vibrates on your desk. You reach out and grab the phone with out lift a toe off the bed. It was a call from Ms. Darling.

"Hello?"

There was a long pause and a loud cough.
"Yes. Hello, (l/n). Last night, one of our lieutenants tracked down the source of the video to a deserted location. We had an officer check it out, but they had found nothing. I request that you try and find anything new just in case."

"Alright..."
You hung up and grabbed your keys.
Ms. Darling sent you an address to the location once you sat down in the driver's seat of your car. You stopped at 'Starbucks' for a quick breakfast.

When you arrived at the location, it was as you suspected; an unoccupied, collapsing apartment. There were some missing bricks on the outer surface with blooming flowers within the cracks of the building. The apartment's perimeter was surrounded by yellow police tape, so you duck down to get inside.

You proceeded to open the door with caution, holding your phone on flashlight mode. The main lobby was filled with wooden boards, loose nails, and leftover pizza boxes. Oddly colored blood splatters the furniture.

You stopped walking and listened for a sound. Your heart was pounding in your chest. It sounded like excessive crunching and munching. You turn a corner towards a fallen couch to locate the possible suspect.

A sharp and hidden figure was found hunched over a bag of Cheetos.
"Hey!" You yelled to scare them.

The figure turns their head very slowly. You could only see your reflection in those pitch black eyes and sharp teeth.
It ran away into the lobby's kitchen with a quick 'whoosh'.

You chase after it in a hurry, dropping your phone in the process. The figure's complexion became more visible as they crawl backwards under the hanging lightbulb. Their hair was dyed a vibrant indigo with blue highlights in them. Their skin was freakishly pale and rough.

You stood there in shock, not sure to call someone or taser them first.
"Hey....It's okay."
It felt like you were trying to tame a wolf with rabies.

They scoot up against the wall, while mumbling and aggressively scratching the floor.
"Sign...Posters...Sign....Posters..." The phrase was repeated over and over again.
It was going to drive you insane, so you tried to approach them in a calm manner.

Your hand was inches from the figure's shoulder.
"It's alright-"
They suddenly tightly squeeze your hand and pull it closer to them. You could tell that the figure looked like a young teenage boy.
The figure reeks of a strong iron smell.
"He knows you're here, (y/n)."

There was a loud bang after that.
And the world fading out of view.
