QOTD: Breakfast or Dinner?
Aster's underwhelming abode was filled with forgiven antiques stacked upon bark wood shelves, along with rusted, stringed light bulbs illuminating a soft lavender.
"Please don't touch anything. They've been my most prized possessions for countless years....and they cost 60 dollars total." She smiles to herself as she pulls back a black curtain, leading to a small circular table with a crystal ball in the middle.
You sigh in disappointment and embarrassment, not only for yourself but for Nate too. Your last resort; a fortune teller of all things.
The steel grip on Dark's knife loosens when realization kicks into your system. You startle Nate's calmed state with an outburst of giggles.
A fortune teller of all things.
Aster became unsettled by you, but continued onward to her 'vision room' with the cliche crystal ball inside.
"If we wish to defeat a supernatural force, then we'll have to be one step ahead of it."
With an obnoxious snort, you question, " And how in the heck are we suppose to do that, Wizard lady?"
Aster suspects your disbeliefs and swipes the knife hiding in your pocket.
Before you could take it back, Nate's delicate arms hold you back from taking a step further.
Her eyes seem to light up with such exhilaration embellishing her darkened surroundings when her eyes met the reflective surface of the knife.
"Ah...I assume the beholder of this ancient weapon was a dark entity, am I right?" You hinder with the seer subconsciously in shock, still nodding your head in agreement.
Nate steps into the conversation, "Yes, we believe this manipulative demon is linked to a greater power pulling the strings from afar."
"Ah.." Her crooking voice sighs out while arranging the sacred knife and various crystals. She sits down on the chair farthest from you when she finished the ritual set-up.
Her painted fingertips point in the direction of the other chair decorated with golden armrests and maroon cushions. Nate stands silently behind you to watch the procedure.
"Now..." She begins.
"Take my hand." You place a palm on her own, slowly.
Aster's dark eyes close with such gracious intent.
"Close your eyes; Relax."
You do as she told.
"Think of emptiness. And all things of nothingness." Your mind displays a simple view of a natural white setting, leading to nowhere. Aster's voice was long gone from wherever you are.
Then, there was an image; a moving image. It was incredibly hard to decipher. The image was of two people: one in utter horror, and the other feeling great pride and insanity.
There was an invisible barrier muffling their words.
"unfortunate this is! A genius trapped.....Do you love me?" All of the master mind's words jumbled into one sentence of nonsensical phrases.
Another image appears of a young adult with broken eyes whimpering in a corner.
"Master is displeased, very displeased. H-Have to make it right. Can't let them get away. Never....Never..."
"(Y/n)!" Rough, cold hands shake your fragile bones from behind. You turn around and face a doppelgänger of yourself, but with a shattered soul and knives in their delicate eyes.
"Get out of here! Don't listen to Nate! He's only-" The vision ends, and you are met with a terrified Aster and a pleading Nate beside you.
