XIII: Eyes

It's just a daily mockery and bullies that he received from his schoolmates.

Heterochromia; that is the term to describes his rare mutant genetics causes his eyes has different colours. He was naturally born like that, it's only, other children do not understand his unique genetics leads him to be bullied and teased.

Ichiro did not return home at the time he should be, worried to his wellbeing, a 10 years old Reiko go out to look for him; while she asked her mother's coworker which also their neighbour to look after the rest of her brothers because of her mother on the night shift.

"Ichiro!! Where are you?" She looks for him at the playground they used to play together. She tries to call him out, only to hear sobs from under the playground slides.

Reiko peeks into the slides and found a 6 years old Ichiro is crying under the slides.

"Hey, what happened?" asked Reiko, when saw her little brother is crying.

"N-nee-chan..." sobs Ichiro. "W-w-why I'm b-born different?" Reiko tilted her head. "Different?"

"W-why I did not born like other kids?" asked Ichiro, in between of his sobs. "Why m-my e--eyes are d-different?"

Reiko sighs, "Oh, were you bullied cause of your eyes?" asked Reiko, strokes his black hair. Ichiro nodded, while wipes away his tears and snorts.

"You are not different!!" Ichiro confused by his sister remarks.

"I'm not?"

"Yeah!! Jiro and Saburo also have a pair of different eyes colours, right?" Then Ichiro recalled his younger brothers, Jiro and Saburo who shared the same trait as him. The different is, he has a pair of red and green eyes, while Jiro has a yellow and green pair, and Saburo is had green and blue pairs.

"You have different eye colours because you are special! Not all people able to have different eye colours with perfect eyesight! Which means you are special! The chosen one!!" explained Reiko. Ichiro tilted his head, "Chosen One?"

"Yeah!! Like power rangers! All of them were 'chosen one'!!" said Reiko. From tears, Ichiro eyes become sparkles, "T-that's mean, I might become power rangers too?"

"Yeah! You could be one, and since Ichiro is no. 1, you'll be the Red Ranger!! The leader of power rangers!!" suggest Reiko, enthusiastic.

"T-then, that's mean, Jiro also is the chosen one? He can be the Blue Ranger, right?" ask Ichiro. "That's true!" support Reiko.

"And Saburo will be Yellow Ranger!" add Reiko. "Now, do you hate your different eyes?" ask Reiko. Ichiro shakes his head. Now, instead of being sad because of the difference he has, Ichiro gets excited about it.

"It's good, right? Three of you can become Power Rangers!" said Reiko. Ichiro nodded. Then he remembered,

"A-ah, nee-chan too can become power rangers"

"No, I can't," said Reiko.

"Eh?"

"Because I'm not chosen one, my eyes aren't different like you guys," said Reiko, sorrow in her voices. Drastically, Ichiro reaction changes as well.

Then he gets up, and hug Reiko. "Nee-chan can be power rangers too, even you are not chosen one," said Ichiro. Reiko surprised by his brother words, that now try to persuade her.

Reiko chuckles.

"Yeah, that's true"
