Our meetings became a frequent occasion. We see each other at least once a week the rest of the summer. Naturally, when our Hogwarts shopping list come, I send him an owl and ask if he wants to shop together. Unfortunately, he already has plans to go with the Weasleys and Granger, but we still plan to meet. We decide to meet at the Leaky Cauldron.
One the day we plan for, I jump out of bed. I've seen Harry every week this summer and I still jump out of bed to meet him. What a hopeless romantic I am. Oh well. I am still anxious to meet him and probably will be for life.
I dress in my muggle clothes and run down the stairs for breakfast. In the kitchen, Ms. Brown, which I finally learned was her maiden and preferred name, barely started breakfast. She turns around as I run in and almost slip on the tile.
"Geez! Slow down. You're not meeting him for another two hours," she says.
"I know." I look down, kind of embarrassed.
She comes over and ruffles my hair. "You're adorable."
I pretend to gag. "Ugh! You're just as bad as my mom. I mean... well... you know." I shuffle my feet and look down again.
An awkward silence follows my comment. What is she supposed to say. Apologize? It's not her fault. Ignore it and act like it's not a big deal? It obviously is. Feel bad for me and show sympathy? She knows I hate that. So we just stand in silence.
"Anyway... What's for breakfast?" I ask.
"I'm currently working on some scrambled eggs. I also plan to make bacon, toast, and hash browns."
"Yum! Can I help with anything?"
"Sure. You want to put the bacon on?"
"Can do."
I get to work. She shows me how to cook the bacon properly, crispy and delicious. When the bacon's done, I put the toast in the toast and Ms. Brown moves onto the hash browns. I take the eggs and bacon and set them in the center of the table. As we're finishing up breakfast, Goyle comes into the kitchen.
"Geez, Draco! You're up early. One week too long for you?" he says with a laugh.
"Shut up," I shoot back, playfully.
"Hash brown are ready. Everything else done?" Ms. Brown cuts in.
"Yep," I say.
"Then let's eat!" she declares.
We sit down and she serves each of us. I chow down my food like always. I love food, especially when it's cooked by Ms. Brown. It's delicious.
After breakfast, we clean up the plates and head to the fireplace. We each grab a pinch of floo powder and travel to Diagon Alley. I land with a thud in the fireplace of the Leaky Cauldron. I stand up and look around just in time to see the large group of red heads, Hermione, and my boyfriend walk through the door.
I start walking over. I see Mrs. Weasley stumble backwards when she see me walking over. It pains me to see that. I hate what I've done in the past.
Harry catches her before she falls. I'm just close enough to hear him explain, "It's okay. He's my boyfriend."
She almost faints. "He's your what?" she screams.
"My boyfriend. It's okay. He's not like his Dad, don't worry."
Again I am pained, this time in remembrance of Father. My parents may be jerks, to everyone including myself, but they were family. I remind myself that they are my past now and keep moving.
"Hi, Mrs. Weasley." I reach out a hand. Surprisingly, she takes it. She still looks very white. Whiter than me, maybe. "I apologize for what Lucius has done and what I have done in his footsteps. I'm not that person anymore."
"Hi Draco." She stumbles her words. "Nice to meet you, I guess."
"Mrs. Weasley!" Harry says.
"Mom!" Ron yells at the same time.
"Im sorry," she explains to them. "Him and his father have both done very rude things to this family. Do you think I can forgive that so quickly."
"She's right," I say. "But I am trying to change Mrs. Weasley. I promise."
"Just prove it to me and you have my blessing to date Harry."
I bow my head. "Thank you."
"Well, let's get shopping!" she exclaims.
At that, we all head over to Diagon Alley. Before we go in, I introduce them to Goyle and Ms. Brown. Both parties were hesitant but pleased. While this interaction is happening, I think to myself I love how neither party is the legal guardian of me or Harry, but they take responsibility for us as if they were. It's kind of funny actually.
After the introductions are done, we do our shopping. Being my third year, and the Weasleys millionth year, the shopping goes quickly. Too quickly for my liking. It seems like I'm saying good bye to Harry to soon. Mrs. Weasley says good bye to me, and I'm filled with a warmth. I'm glad that she is making an effort to accept us. I'm glad to have a second chance at a personality. After the good byes, we part and leave our separate ways.
For the next three weeks, I look into my school work. Don't get me wrong, I hate school, but I love being able to use magic. For that reason, I look forward to school. My studying is only broken by the weekly visits from Harry. We know there's only three weeks left, but it's too long for us.
Finally, the three weeks pass, and it's time for school. I wake up early just like I do on every exciting day. I get ready the same way I did when I went to Diagon Alley. This time when I go downstairs, breakfast is already made. We only have a fast egg sandwich this morning because we have to catch the train at eleven. We scarf down the food, get in the car, and head to King's Cross station. When we get there, we head straight to platform 9 3/4.
I am met with a very unpleasant surprise when I enter onto the platform. There over to my left are my parents. My only thought is Oh great! What awful plan do they have for me this year.
