I run to my dorm and curl up on the bed. Despite the pestering of my friends, I don't leave the rest of the day. I don't even leave the day after. My friends bring food up to the dorm for me because I refuse to even leave for meals.
I don't hear anything from Harry over those two days. It hurts. Is he no longer in love with me? Are we done? I hope not. I still love him so much.
Finally, the morning of December 27th, the day of our first Hogsmeade trip, I get a note from him. I hold it for awhile, hesitant to open it and see the message about wanting to break up. Eventually, I can't take it anymore and I tear it open. If it's going to happen, I might as well get it over with.
Much to my surprise, it's nothing to do with that. I don't know why that surprised me, we have so much love, but it did. Instead, the letter read:
To my love:
When I heard you wouldn't leave you dorm yesterday, I almost snuck in and ran up to see you. My senses, however, told me to give you your space, so that's what I did. I hope that you are feeling better today because I miss you. I hope you will still come to Hohsmeade with me today. After all, it is our anniversary. I want nothing more than to spend this special day with you. I hope you will consider and join me today.
Love,
Harry <3
P.S. I started reading your book and I'm sorry I ever doubted you. I couldn't put it down. I almost didn't leave my dorm yesterday either. You were right again, my love.
I could feel my muscles hurting from smiling so hard. He always knows the right thing to say. I love him so much.
I quickly get dressed and bolt down the stairs. I'm not too late for breakfast, so I run to the Great Hall. He looks straight to the door when it opens. He smiles so wide when he sees me. God do I love that smile. I blush and wave to him.
I sit down, and, in no time, Harry appears next to me. I jump when he sits down. He laughs a little. That's another thing I love about him. His laugh is adorable.
"Im glad you came down," he says. "I couldn't bare the thought of you sitting alone in your room."
"Yeah. Me too," I say, looking down.
He lifts my chin. "Hey, don't be embarrassed. We all need time to ourselves."
"Yeah," I say. Then I perk up. "Yeah! I guess you're right. Thanks for the letter by the way. It really cheered me up. I was starting to worry that you didn't love me anymore."
"Draco," he says seriously. "I could never stop loving you."
He pulls me in for a kiss. I tense up, waiting for the laughter from everyone. Miraculously, it doesn't come. Instead, everyone claps. I relax and kiss back. When our lips part, he stands up and walks back to his table. We're both smiling wide as ever.
We leave for Hogsmeade soon after breakfast. Once outside of the castle, I wait for Harry. He taps me twice on the right arm and once on the left, his signal. We hop in the carriages to ride to Hogsmeade.
"Riding alone?" the driver asks.
"Yep," I say, helping Harry into the cart.
"Okay." He flicks the whip and the cart starts.
All the way to Hogsmeade, Harry and I cuddle. Sure he's invisible, but that didn't stop us.
When we arrive, and the cart drives away, Harry slips off the cloak. We grab hands, the cloak in his other hand, and step onto the streets of Hogsmeade. We walk around all day, joining up with Hermione and Ron at one part.
At dinner time, Hermione and Ron leave us alone. "Umm, Ron and I are going to go look for dinner."
"We are?" Ron asks. I see her elbow him. "I mean we are."
"You guys could stay with us," I say, confused.
"No, we're fine," Hermione says. They wave and walk away.
Harry turns to me. "So, since today is our anniversary, I was thinking we go somewhere special for dinner. Your choice."
"Seriously?"
"Of course."
"Ok... Well, I don't know many places to eat here, so I guess we could go the the Three Broomsticks."
"Works for me," he says.
We walk in and grab a table. We're just about to order when I see McGonagall, Hagrid, and Flitwick walking up to the door.
"Actually, I think I need another minute," I say. As the waiter leaves, I whisper, "Get under the table and put your clock over us!"
He looks at me confused, but I'm already climbing under the table. He follows me under and puts the clock on. We're just in time. We see the group of teachers walk in the door. They sit down at a table.
"Phew. Close call," Harry says.
"Yeah," I say with a tense laugh.
We're just in earshot of them. We hear every word. Of course, it has to be awful things for Harry to hear.
The conversation starts with Hagrid freaking out about how he could've killed Black. They're obviously picking up a conversation. He says something about him being there when Hagrid was taking Harry. He said he almost gave Harry to Black because Black's his godfather. I see Harry's mouth drop. I cringe. Whatever the rest of the conversation is, I miss it. I'm in a daze realizing that Harry just found out a fact that could hurt him mentally. I'm going to have to me honest with him now.
Finally, the teachers leave. We sit back up at the table. The waiter, seeing us again, comes over and take out order. I order a steak with mashed potatoes and Harry orders lobster and broccoli. I was very careful to not order the most expensive thing on the menu. I may have grown up with Malfoys, but I know common courtesy.
When the waiter walks away, Harry says, "Did that really just happen?"
"I'm afraid so," I say.
"I wonder if it's true. I sure hope not." I shift uncomfortably. He notices. "What is it?"
"It's all true."
"How do you know?"
"I recently met him,"I say through gritted teeth, "in the Room of Requirement."
"You knew! And you didn't tell me!"
"They made me promise not to."
"And you didn't think I needed to know that a criminal is my godfather? And who's they?"
"First off, I didn't want you to freak out like you obviously are. And second, Lupin was there too."
"Lupin was with him? I trusted him!"
"Black's not bad, though."
"What do you mean not bad?" he yells. "He killed 13 people! Is that your not bad because I'd be scared to see your bad."
"It wasn't actually him. I don't know all the details, but I could tell he wasn't lying when he said this."
This calms Harry down a bit. "So you seriously believe he's not a bad guy."
"Yeah, I do."
"Okay. I trust you."
"You can't tell anyone I told you this, though. Most teachers will think I'm crazy, and Lupin will be pissed."
"Ok. I can do that. I love you."
"I love you, too."
Soon after, our dinner is served. We eat and talk peacefully. We enjoy the rest of our dinner and the rest of our evening. This might have been the best day of the whole year!
