FY 03

"Shinichi, thanks for today." Ran smiled happily, before lowering her eyes down on her hand that is inclined with Shinichi's.

He smiled back. Seeing Ran makes his heart flutter a bit. When she's happy, he can't help it but to be happy as well.

They just got back from amusement park, it can be called as a date yet they don't really talk about their current relationship, yet.

Shinichi decided to spend more time with Ran, she suffered more than anyone else, she waited for him more than anyone else.

"I'll make dinner okay?" Ran finally let go of his hand as they entered the Mori's apartment.

As soon as she vanished from his eyesight, the smile he was wearing completely vanish. As soon as she's nowhere to be found, the emptiness on Shinichi's heart can now be felt.

Its been weeks since the last time he fell unconscious. His doctor made it clear not to make any reckless move that will danger his own self. Seeing Ran and their friends, worried about him was his wake-up call not to force himself to remember, even if- for him, he will not be complete if he can't remember that one year.

He's happy now, yes- but that feeling that he's not complete will always be there as soon as he got time to think alone.

"Ran! Shinichi!" Sonoko greeted with Kazuha and Heiji on her sides.

"Oh, hey." Shinichi greeted back with a smile.

As soon as the girls entered, Heiji's phone rings and he answered it quickly, making him avoiding Shinichi without knowing.

Shinichi warmly welcomes the girls as Ran took a peak, announcing that the dinner will be ready soon.

As the girls talks, Shinichi's eyes follows Heiji. Every time he's talking on the phone, his face lit up and he looks very calm. Its different when he's talking with any of them, like he's somewhat awkward, like he's being careful around them.

"Do you think its a girl?" Kazuha's question made Shinichi taken a back, her sudden appearance startled him a bit.

She was not serious on her question, she just wants to be able to talk to Shinichi who was very focused on Heiji.  Although he can sense that somehow, Kazuha is curious- just like him.

"Who knows?" His safe answer.

Really, who knows if he's talking to a girl? But, at least Shinichi knew that Kazuha likes Heiji more than a friend, their situation is kinda similar to them, with Ran.

Kazuha smiled a bit. "You know, everyday- at least once, he will got a call that will get him into a good mood." She starts. "I know that he's acting weird but I can't bring myself to ask, I'm too afraid that he will say its not my business, like before." She remembered the time when he told her that, it was when Shinichi got into an accident right after Ran's birthday.

"I feel like he put a wall between us, like he's isolating us- his friends, from him." Shinichi can see her sadness that written on her face. He didn't answer though.

"I'm sorry, I'm talking nonsense." She force herself to act normally but its too late since Shinichi saw her real emotions already.

Kazuha immediately go to where Ran and Sonoko are, leaving Shinichi with his thoughts. He actually felt the same way as Kazuha, Heiji is like locking his own self somewhere else.
