Shinichi, Ran, Sonoko and Kazuha are enjoying their selves under the sun at 2 pm, while Heiji is just under a tree, listening to a music while reading a mystery novel pocket book.

They are having a picnic right now, and Heiji- he doesn't have a choice but to join them when he informed Shiho about this little gathering of them. She even gave him a small smile. She also told him that, even if what happened to her and Shinichi's life right now, his well being is their top priority- no matter what it takes.

"Too selfless.." Heiji whispered under his breath.

"Who is?"

When he look up to see who said that, he was stunned for a second.

"Ran.." He utter. She's peeking at his book, she thought that he's maybe talking about the character he was reading.

"Is that book that good that you can't join us?" Ran asked while smiling. She wanted him to enjoy his time with them, but she knows that he's keeping his distance, whatever is his reason- she just can't let him slip out of the group.

"Yes.." He answered even if the truth is, his mind was not focus on the book but on Shiho's.

"Mou fine, finish a few chapter then join us, okay?" She smiled widely.

Heiji watches Ran walks away and go towards Shinichi's direction. He saw her whispered something on his ear and they both laugh wholeheartedly.

Heiji let a deep and very meaningful sigh. It hurts.

Even if he blow the air out his lungs, his heart is still feeling heavy.

"Hattori Heiji, you fuck up." He smiled bitterly as he watches them, remembering Shinichi's own words when he confessed his love for Shiho to him back in the US. "Falling in love with someone you have no chance to be with, you really fuck up."

He thought, that as soon as he accepted his once blooming feelings for Ran, he will be able to breath, but then- his heart says otherwise.

Heiji wonders, why her of all people? When did it start? Was it when Shinichi was back in the US and he saw how Ran suffered a lot that he felt the need to console and make her happy?

Then, what shall he do now? After accepting this kind of feeling for her, whats next?

'She looks so happy with him.' He thought as his eyes focus only at Ran. He's one of the people who knew that these two were in love way since back then, he was happy when they were going well before, but now- so many things happened and his feelings for her got so complicated.

And he knew already, he won't be  able to make her smile like that. Only him, only Shinichi Kudo.

Akako spared one last glance at Shiho, whom is busy typing on her laptop. She never changed- the antidote is her top priority, and everyone knows that its for Shinichi.
