"Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile..." I sang the last words.
"Did you guys have a great time?" I shouted on the mic. A chorus of yes's shouted back at me. "Well, you guys sure are a great crowd. Goodnight everybody!" Loud cheers could be heard as I went backstage. I was feeling so jolly. The way my fans screamed always made me happy.
Backstage, there were about 50 people, mostly girls, who had passes and would get signed posters and a picture with me. I couldn't help but smile at all of them. It wasn't that fake smile that I usually pull when a hater makes a rude comment. No. It was a sincere smile brought to my face by the smiles I could see on everyone else's face.
I was signing the last CD a girl named Sarah asked me to sign when I gave her the poster.
Then I saw him. After 6 months, I saw him. John. He wore ripped jeans with his signature pose: Hands in his pockets. His hair was in its usual messy state but he looked charming nonetheless. There was a girl who looked about 13 next to him. I wondered who she was because I knew John didn't have a younger teenage sister, only the twins who were an 8 year old girl and boy.
I finished signing Sarah's poster and her mom took a picture of the two of us. John was talking to one of the backstage security guys who seemed to be arguing with him about something.
I walked over to the security and said, "I'll take it from here, Sir. Hello John." The girl looked so shocked while John gave her the 'I told you so' look. It was so awkward. I didn't know whether I should hug him or what.
John stopped trying to get me in February, before Valentines. I was still angry at him for cheating back then, but now I'm over it. He confessed which means something right? But then again, he was the one who confessed the other 3 times too, so No.
He smiled. The intestines in my stomach were wrestling. You know that feeling you get when you see your crush in freshman year? That's how I felt. Fifteen. It was as if someone had lit sparks in my very own body. All this because of his smile.
He stood there, just close enough for me to touch. So close, that I hoped he couldn't see what I was thinking of. I was thinking of the time when he pulled me out of the house, on a rainy day, just so he could help tick an object from my bucket list: A kiss in the pouring rain. I soon broke out of my reverie.
"Who's this cute angel you're with?" I asked to break the awkward silence. "This is Jessie," John replied, "my...uh... friends sister." Friend's sister, huh? "Oh, nice to meet you Jessie," I reached my hand out for her to shake. She was so excited. "Wow!" she beamed jumping into me for a hug. "When John said he knew you personally, I thought he was fibbing." Jessie was so excited I had to laugh.
"Yeah, how about you take this," I said to Jessie taking off my bracelet, "and you can brag to all your friends about having it." She screamed and jumped to hug me again. "Thank you so much!" "And a picture in case they don't believe you?" I asked her. "Woaw," John said, "pretty soon you'll be giving her yourself for slavery." I laughed as Jessie shoved her phone into his hands and he automatically knew what to do.
After we had a small chat, Jessie and John were to leave. "Thanks for everything Taylor," Jessie said, "I'll never forget today where I met Taylor Swift without any backstage passes!" I laughed at her. "No, Thank YOU for bringing John here," I replied, "I know how much he hates Country-Pop."
The two left and I was escorted by the guards to the limo. There were about 5thousand people outside screaming and shouting as I came out.
I was smiling from ear to ear while trying to read some of the banners they had.
"We♥Taylor Swift"
"I see sparks fly whenever you smile Taylor!"
Then there was one with a picture of me written, "Fearless".
All those banners and posters are really what make me continue singing. The appreciation my fans show everytime.
Just to make her day, I reached over to touch a girl who was making a video the whole time. She looked over her phone and I saw her eyes go big when she realised I was heading towards her. I felt really bad when I saw the paramedics rush to her after she fainted.
I was in the limo browsing through the tweets when one caught my eye:
"Taylor Swift seen laughing with Ex, John Clinton. Are they back together?"
Then there was a picture of John, Jessie and I. I laughed a weak laugh when I read that. The tabloids always seem to 'know'.
I quoted the tweet, mentioned @JayCee and wrote "lol". That'd sure leave the gossip bloggers with something to write about.
I went on to my interactions and retweeted a few tweets from random people, as I've said before, just to make someone's day.
My fans are the people that keep me going, they make my everyday, so I just have to make their days at times. The one thing I never do though is follow them back. I once followed one back and they sent me about 30 Direct Messages in the space of a day. Let's just say those messages were 18SNLV rated.
I filter my interactions to only show me the interactions from people I follow. So I got one from my best friend, Liz.
@DonDivah2: @taylorswift13 CALL ME NOW!!!!!
I laughed because I knew exactly why Liz wanted me to call her. I called her and she answered on the 1st ring.
"Woaw, someone's excited!" I chuckled.
"TAYLOR!!! Why am I finding out about John only now??" Yup. That's my best friend; gets straight to the point. She ranted on and on.
"Liz," I said calmly, "Meet me at The Blue Lagoon in 20 minutes." I hung up before even giving her a chance to reply.
You're probably thinking that's rude; but you don't know Liz like I do. When I'm on tour, we usually talk for at least 3 hours on the phone. That girl can talk, I tell you.
----***----
When I got to the hotel, Liz was already eating in my suite. I walked in, kicking my shoes off at the door.
"Taylor!! You don't hang up on people like that..."
I sat down and got ready for the lecture from my dear best friend...
