Chapter 13: Surprises

"Well..." Emily began. "I mean I think this is a date." I smiled at her and grabbed her hand.

"It is if that's what you want," I chuckled. "Do you want this to be a date?"

"I think so," she said shyly. "I mean I've always thought you were kind of cute and I liked how you defended me when my ex-boyfriend attacked me on the beach."

"How could I not defend someone so beautiful," I told her. She looked at me with a tear in her eye. I stood up and pulled her into a hug.

She snuggled close as I tightened my grip around her waist. After ten minutes of hugging, she looked up at me with tear stained eyes.

"Am I really beautiful?" Emily asked. I looked at her confused.

"Of course you are," I assured her. She smiled at me. I really wanted to just kiss her right then and there.

"Thank you Jinxx," she sobbed. "Thanks for everything." I held her close as she sobbed into my chest.

-three hours later-

Emily and I got back to the house around midnight. We decided to stay out and look at the stars.

Everyone was asleep so we were sure to stay quiet. I lead her into the spare bedroom which happened to be right next to mine.

"Thanks for today," she giggled. I smiled.

"My pleasure Emily," I bowed. She giggled more. She gave me a hug then smiled at me.

"You're a great friend Jinxx," she said. She then kissed my cheek and walked into the room, closing the door behind her.
