Charlena II There was a Drakon

Selena POV

The chariot wheels rumbled as I lead the Ares cabin into New York.

"ARES!" I yelled facing the drakon. I took a deep breath I can do this, I can do this. This is for Charlie.

A dozen war chariots charged into battle behind me, each flew a red banner with the symbol of the wild boar's head. They were pulled by a team of skeletal horses with manes of fire. There were a total of Ares demigods behind me.

Be brave I mutter to myself under my breath, my hands were shaking, holding Clarisse's spear.

I held up the spear and it crackled with electricity.

Half of the chariots charged the monster army, I led the others straight for the drakon. Someone had already poked out one eye, but its glare was enough to paralyze two chariot driver. They veered into a line of cars. I crossed my fingers hoping they were as OK as possible.

"Ares, to me!" I screamed. I voice high, fear was pumping through my veins. I had to do this it's the least I can do for all those I betrayed, for Charlie. He promised not to hurt Charlie. That alone was enough to pump my determination.

The chariots circled the drakon, lances broke against the monster's skin. Skeletal horses breathed fire, two more chariots overturned. The Ares demigods just leaped to their feet, and drew their swords, and started hacking at the drakon.

I was right in the front, stabbing Clarisse's spear at the drakon's face, trying to put out its other eye.

I didn't know what I was doing, I didn't train for this if only Clarisse wasn't so stubborn.

Percy was below me, "You can do it!" he screamed A child of Ares is destined to kill it!"

If only he knew, I'm not a child of Ares.

I war helmet, was making me head sweaty, fear radiated off of me.

The monster looked down at me, and spit poison directly on my face. I screamed as the poison seeped through my helmet getting in contact of my skin. I fell to the ground the impact knocking out my breath.

"Clarisse!" Someone screamed the world was getting blurry and the ground was spinning.

Oh, the pain.

A girl's voice, shaken with grief, cried, "NO! Curse you, WHY?"

"WHY?" the girl demanded, holding me in her arms, someone behind me tried to remove the poison-corroded helmet.

"What were you thinking?" I knew that voice, it was Clarisse, she cradled my head in her lap.

I tried to swallow, but my lips were dry and cracked. "Wouldn't ... Listen... The cabin would... only follow you" I croaked.

"So you stole my armor," Clarisse yelled, "You waited until Chris and I went out on patrol; you stole my armor and pretended to be me, and NONE of you noticed!"

"Don't blame them," I muttered. "They wanted to... to believe I was you."

"You stupid Aphrodite girl," Clarisse sobbed. "You charged a drakon? Why?"

"All my fault," I said, a tear streaking down my face. I poured my heart out."The drakon, Charlie's death... camp endangered-"

"Stop it! That's not true!"

I opened my hand, and showed her in my palm was a silver bracelet with a scythe charm.

"You were the spy." Someone chimed in.

I force out as many words as I can before my time is out, I have to explain, "Before... before I liked Charlie, Luke was nice to me. He was so... charming. Handsome. Later, I wanted to stop helping him, but he threatened to tell. He promised ... " I took a gulp, the pain was killing me from the inside, "he promised I was saving lives. Fewer people would get hurt. he told me he wouldn't hurt... Charlie. He lied to me."

I took a heavy, painful breath. The world around me was fade, someone muttered something, that didn't matter, the only thing that mattered was Charlie. He stood above me his hands outstretched to me.

"Charlie, I get to see Charlie." I laugh at myself. I took his hand and he pulled me to him and we embraced and the world was covered with warmth.

Sorry for not updating in a while (5 months) This didn't have much Charlena in it but part 2 of the one-shot will have more. I appreciate all the support that this book has had and I apologize again for not updating.
