A few years on and after Phil's comment in their first meet up about them living together they were doing just that. He had scared Dan a few times, once when they were building the new wardrobe after they had moved in Phil had jumped out of it scaring Dan, he had felt bad afterwards but it was hilarious at the time.

The sensations in his heart certainly hadn't gone away, in fact they had grown stronger and his chest had even started to glow the dimmest light whenever he got to close to Dan. Of course he kept this hidden in fear that he would loose his best friend forever because this never happened when he got close to anyone else only Dan, which made him even more special to Phil.

Phil had grown comfortable with living with Dan and Dan was comfortable with living with Phil. It meant that Dan wouldn't have to face his fear of thedark alone as they were never separated for more than a few hours. It was weird really when he thought about it, to be living with someone that you had met online only a few years ago when back then it was a scary thought to even be meeting them never mind asking them to move in with you.

On one particular day in the middle of summer, it had been rather warm and Phil lay sprawled out on the couch with no shirt on and some baggy summery shorts, made for helping people survive the heat. Dan had come in and had seen that there was no where to sit so stood there for a few moments, laptop tucked under his arm, eyes glinting in the sunlight that came in through the window. wondering wether or not he should've just gone back to his room or something but he then remembered that he lived here too and he had every right to make Phil move his ass and stop taking up the whole god damn couch. Of course there was the arm chair that he could've sat in without having to put any effort into moving someone but Dan wanted to sit on the couch on this particular day as it was a lot comfier, so eventually he placed a hand tentatively on Phil's leg and moved it slightly creating just enough space for him to sit down in.

Phil awoke to the feeling his heart pounding in his chest and that familiar sensation in his heart, opening his eyes to see Dan who looked startled as he had always thought Phil was a deep sleeper not someone who would wake at a simple touch, but Dan didn't feel what he felt. He panicked he wasn't wearing a shirt, it wasn't that he wasn't wearing a shirt that scared him why would it? They were comfortable around each other even if they were just wearing boxers but it was the very obvious glow of his chest that was worrying him, growing brighter as Dan stared at him in shock with his hand still on his leg.

"Ph...?"

Dan couldn't even create words, he was confused and slightly scared yet he couldn't move his hand away, but Phil's face held a million emotions the most obvious being fear.

"Dan I'm sorry I ...."

Phil lifted his knees to his chest hiding his face, and glowing heart. How could he have let it happen, why hadn't he thought about things more carefully.

"Philly...."

Dan had tried to sound not so scared or intimidating by using one of his nicknames for his best friend who he was clearly concerned about, it was obvious as his brown eyes scanned Phil looking for something, anything that he could use to find out what had happened.

"Look it's ok.... I'm here don't worry I'm not going to go, I'm not going to run..... just please explain?"

Dan said quietly putting a hand gently on Phil's bare knee without thinking about the reaction he had, had to the last time he touched him.

"I...."

Phil sat up, the glowing in his chest appearing again, he thought of covering it with his hands but there was no point Dan had seen now. He was going to have to somehow explain what was happening.

"Every time we get close or we t.... touch I...."

Phil looked into Dan's caring brown eyes with his own terrified and worried blue eyes trying to find the right words to use, just like he had done in the cafe.

"I get this weird sensation in my heart that has only grown stronger over time.... and it's now started glowing and ......I'm sorry I tried to hide it... I didn't want to scare you but I was so careless and...."

Phil had tears in his eyes he didn't know why, he knew Dan wouldn't just get up and leave him, somewhere he knew that. Dan moved his hand from Phil's knee to his hand placing his over it in a comforting way which only made Phil's heart glow brighter.

"Hey Phil ..... look at me"

Dan was clearly not scared and well if he was, he was hiding it extremely well. Phil looked up, his blue eyes filled with tears that stared back at Dan waiting anxiously for what he was going to say next.

"That's actually pretty cool it's not particularly scary... I mean come on it's not like you are trying to hurt me at all... you could have laser eyes or something and be burning the walls down"

Phil nodded and let out a small laugh, somehow Dan had made it less awkward for him he had always managed to find a way to lighten situations. He lowered his knees his heart still glowing at Dan's touch.

"I... I just didn't want you to start avoiding me and distancing yourself from me"

Phil looked at him, his curls were becoming more independent by the day and Phil had almost forgotten what his straightened fringe had looked like.

"you won't will you?"

He added looking slightly panicked because what if he did?.

"Never. The only thing that will distance us is death"

Dan said with a smile, his hand still on Phil's.

Phil had gone silent, just staring at the hand which was still placed upon his own with no obvious or readable emotion on his face. Dan's touch made everything seem a little better even when the world was trying to make things worse. But he was confused by the sudden silence as he looked over to Phil.

"Phil what's wr..."

his gaze followed Phil's down to their hands

"Oh Phil I'm sorry I....."

Phil looked up at him from their hands. He really wanted Dan to keep his hand there he didn't want him to move to the other end of the couch, he wanted to keep him as close as he could but as he started to move his hand away he didn't know what to do to keep it there.

"No.... Dan I..."

"You what?"

"I ...."

Phil had to try and find the right words before Dan thought he was crazy, but after his hand had moved away the glowing had stopped and they both realised how dark the room was and it was no surprise that Dan managed to make things better again.

"You know Phil this could come in quite handy."

Dan moved himself closer to Phil with a smile on his face so that their shoulders and legs were touching and sure enough the room lit up again, not extremely brightly but just enough for them to be able to see each other clearly.

"I'll never have to move to put a light on again"

"What am I your portable light?"

Dan laughed and Phil couldn't help but smile because it hadn't distanced them if anything it had made them closer. He leant his head on Dan's shoulder drifting back to sleep by now he had become used to the sensation in his chest.
