The glow in Phil's heart had grown even stronger as had his relationship with Dan. They were a lot closer now, often sitting as close to each other on the couch as they could, not just for the light now but because they both wanted to especially as it slowly became colder during the long nights they spent sitting there on their laptops.

There was one problem though. Whenever they filmed gaming videos or any sort of video together Phil would have to leave a space between him and Dan which he absolutely hated and he knew people would pick up on it over time especially all of those that shipped Phan and were determined to make that ship sail. It was either that or he constantly wore thick jumpers to hide the glow that was becoming brighter and more obvious. Whenever they were invited to events or parties they had to try their best to keep a distance from each other to keep Phil safe from the not so accepting people that were most likely surrounding them.

"Dan everyone is going to know"

Phil said randomly one day as they sat together on their laptops his heart glowing brightly.

"I mean look it's only becoming brighter and harder to hide.... what am I going to do"

Phil had tears forming in his eyes just the thought of having to end the friendship he had with Dan or having to tell a doctor or something what was happening was enough to make him cry.

"Oh Phil come on... why must you think like that, it's been like 2 years now since I found out and you hid it from me for like a good few years it'll be easy to hide from those who don't know you"

"But Dan its got so much more obvious, I can't keep wearing thick jumpers in our videos people are going to catch on either that or I'm going to melt in the summer."

"And what do you want me to do about that Phil? I can't stop it from glowing unless I leave for good. Is that what you want?"

Phil felt awful at the thought of Dan leaving him he couldn't live without this brown, curly haired fool that had changed his life in so many ways, but he couldn't imagine him in a house or flat on his own he would simply not move in the dark or have huge electricity bills because he would keep lights on constantly.

"Dan. You know I don't want that, not now, not ever. I'm sorry it's not your fault ... but I understand if you want to leave but I'd never forgive myself if I pushed you away."

"Phil I could never live alone never mind without you can you imagine how many lights I'd have on at night?."

Phil simply laughed because that's exactly what he had thought of, they really did get along well.

It was the early hours of a winters morning, still very dark, very cold, very very cold. Dan had crept into Phil's room and stood next to his bed for a few seconds not knowing how to wake the sleeping boy with black hair that was barely visible in the dark.

"Phil...... Phil"

Dan whispered reasonably loudly in the quiet room becoming desperate, the darkness surrounded him but as much as it terrified him he hid his fear as best he could.

"Phil for god sake please"

Dan grabbed Phil's arm, not to wake him up but because the darkness was getting to him and he needed something to provide comfort as his mind raced, thinking of all the things that could be lurking but Phil's chest began to glow at his touch.

"What?....... Dan what's wrong?"

Phil opened his eyes covering them with his free arm as the light from his heart blinded him temporarily, Dan had never come into his room in the middle of the night so it must've been something very important that he was here for.
