It had been well over a week now and you and Bakugou still weren't talking. Despite the school being so big, it was hard to miss each other every day. It's like your presences were heightened now more than ever since you both were ignoring each other. Your friends' would catch you two stealing glances at one another when the one wasn't looking. Occasionally, your eyes did meet and you'd quickly turn away and act like you were staring off in the distance. Honestly, it was quite painful for your friends to witness. They knew you two needed to talk but you were both so stubborn no one made a move to do so.
You just couldn't grasp why he was such a prick to people, especially the nice ones who seemed to care about him.
But it shouldn't have come as surprise, You laughed humorlessly to yourself. He had always been an ill-tempered jerk. You had told Midoriya the exact same thing too. Then why did you believe he had matured a little? Why did you think he wasn't as much of an ass as before?
He was your friend. Was that it? You just couldn't see it because you were so close to him? You weren't sure.
What you did know, however, was that his actions weren't something you wanted around you. You couldn't stand bullies.
Despite all your warnings to yourself you couldn't help but feel a little lonelier now.
You felt some of the difference on your walks home. Usually you would be cracking jokes while he ranted about how awful they were. You would sometimes catch the glimmer of a smile before he proceeded to sigh in annoyance.
But now you were on your own again and the days began to blend together once more.
You stepped up to the front door of your home and unlocked it. Your house wasn't anything special. It was a dingy little building with your room being the upstairs. The paint was chipped and cracked all around the outside and the windows were too dull to see through them properly. It wasn't perfect, but it was what you and your mother could live on.
Speaking of which, you were taken aback to find her home early.
"Hey honey, how was school?" She asked, masking her evident exhaustion with a smile.
"I thought you had a shift at the hospital today," You questioned.
"Oh...they were overstaffed so they let me come home early," She chuckled. "It's all okay though, I should make enough to pay the rent this month."
You internally sighed. You knew 'overstaffed' meant they didn't need her quirk today. Being a nurse, your mom should have been getting paid pretty well. However, she never finished the required classes to become an official practitioner due to money troubles. She was currently working as an unregistered nurse in a smaller, lesser known hospital. They wouldn't have hired her in any other situation had it not been for her healing quirk. Even though your mother was extremely valuable to them, they still underpaid her for her lack of credentials.
This made your blood boil, but she had no other option. This pay was better than anything else that was available. Times were tough right now.
"I made dinner. Do you want some?" Your mom offered.
"I'm okay for now," You said softly. "I'm just gonna go upstairs and do some homework." She nodded, a little disappointed. "Alright. I'll bring you something up to you later."
"Thanks, mom."

Bakugou sat pensively at his desk. His pencil tapped on the problem in front of him but his mind was elsewhere.
