-Later-

I just arrived into my room from talking with Max. I prepare myself for bed.

I'm about to dose off but sit upright as I see a shadow. My eyes take a moment to adapt to the darkness.

I then see the figure sit on my bed, I gasp. The figure says slowly, "I come in peace, Laur, calm down, it's me."

Melissa.

I sigh in relief and hug her. "You scared me!" She giggled, "I'm sorry." I hold her hand, "How are you? Where are you staying?"

She smiles, "I'm happy, how are you? Well, Ryan and I found this abandoned wooden house. I think you'd love it, it has a wooden ladder and all that. I-"

I cut her off, "I know. Max used to stay there." She gasps, "Are you serious?" I nod, she chuckles, "Wow!"

I hug her again, "When I become queen I'll welcome you and Ryan back to this castle." She kisses my forehead, "Thank you."

She smirks, "How are things with Max?" I nod, "Good. I'm actually happy, Lissa." She smiles, "I'm glad."

She hugs me and we hold on to each other for dear life. She pulls away, "I need to leave now. I love you, Laur."

I kiss her forehead and smile, "I'll see you soon, maybe even visit." She nods, "That would be lovely."

I smile as I watch her disappear into the night.

-Next Day-

Ginger shakes me awake. I groan but flip myself over to meet her worried eyes.

I sit up, "What's the matter?" She says quickly, "Emergency meeting. You need to get dressed immediately Laura."

Emergency meeting.

I frantically prepare myself before heading downstairs.

I see my father staring worriedly into the distance. "Father?" He turns and runs his hand through his hair.

"Laura, the new guards need to go out for training. I will be sending Lucas  over with them."

I stare at him and nod. "Alright then. Is that all?" He says slowly, "Melissa and Ryan have eloped."

I nod.

Of course.

He says slowly, "Training will start tomorrow for the guards."

My mind scattered into a million pieces as all sorts of scenarios are replaying in my head.

My father excuses himself and I make my way to Max as soon as possible.

On my way there I am interrupted by none other than, Edward.

He holds me in his arms and kisses my forehead. "Going somewhere love?" I nod, "Yes. I need to do so urgently."

He furrows his eyebrows, "Alright then. As you were." I thank him before proceeding to look for Max.

Just as I reach him my father appears behind me. He furrows his eyebrows, "I was going to break the news." I nod and allow him to proceed.

I see Max look at me sympatheticly. I avoid his eye contact, I was about to walk away when my father grabbed my hand.

"Laura would like to say something." I stare at him, "Oh, no father I have nothing to add. Although, safe travelling and training."

The guards all say in unison, "Thank you, princess." I smile and nod.

-Later-

My emotions have been all over the place, as the thought of not being with Max saddens me.

I felt my shoulder being shaken gently. I turn around and see Max staring at me. "You okay Laur?" I nod, "Fine."

He sighs and plops himself next to me on my bed. He takes my hand and I intertwine our fingers.

I sigh and place my head on his chest. "I'm going to miss you." He chuckles, "I'll only be gone for two weeks. I think you'll survive. Well, at least I hope so."

I chuckle, "Yeah, I most probably will." He kisses my forehead. I glance at our intertwined fingers and I smile.

Who would have thought? A girl who isn't the love-type, is swooning over a man, who makes her fall in love with the little things that he does.

He grins at me, "Oh please do share your thoughts Miss Caroline." I smile and look up at him. "I'm lucky."

He furrows his eyebrows, "About what?" I grin, "I have you." He smiles, "Well, in that case, I was wanting to give this to you when I returned but clearly that is not going to happen."

He hands me a golden bracelet, and in the centre it has an L and an M on it.

I smile, "Max! You did not need to do this. Oh I appreciate this so much."

He chuckles, "When you miss me, stare at that and, close your eyes please."

I obey his instructions, "Although, I must say, if you disappear I will come and find you."

I hear him chuckle, "Alright, open them." I burst out laughing when I see my own pink bean bag.

He chuckles, "I know you'd love it." I get up and hug him.

I inhale his scent and I try and memorize it. I allow my body to become familair with his arms and his grip.

I allow myself to become familair with him.
