Take a moment to imagine that you're in a dark room. Just you. As you roam around in the empty compartment, you find a match box. Because you were bored, you decided to light a stick and without knowing, it slowly grew into a large fire, suffocating you. You tried to escape from the devouring fire - but the fire grew even more taunting to eat you whole. With no beacon of hope, you decided to let this fire that you started to eat you..

But if there is any chance of getting out, will you take that chance?

Our sins are like that fire - it all started with the decision of doing something "wrong" then eventually it grew so big that we're entrapped of its consequences. Sometimes, we think there's no way out of the mess we're in and so we succumb to it.

But if I tell that there's a way out of that mess? Will you hear me out?

There's this woman in the bible (Luke 7:36-50), when she heard that Jesus was in the city and was invited to dinner at the Pharisee's house, she immediately went bringing an Alabaster jar of perfume (oil) with her. As soon as she met Jesus, she wept at his feet - Jesus' feet was wet with her tears. Then she used her hair to dry Jesus feet, kissed it, and poured the jar of perfume on his feet. This woman who displayed such act of reverence and faith - was a sinner.

One of the Pharisee testified to the kind of life the woman lived (v.39), but she didn't care of her past mistakes. She is focused on the one whom she believed is her beacon of hope to get her out of her messed up life. She wept at Jesus feet because she knew she was guilty of sin. She wept because she knew that it's through this Man will she have a change of life.

No matter how drowned you are in sin right now, as long as you believe in Jesus and His power to forgive all your sins - you will be saved as He had said to the woman in Luke 7:50, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

Sometimes we believe that there's no hope for us to be saved because of who we are, and what we have done. Our sins may be great, but God's love is greater.

Application:

Come to God in prayer. Believe what He has said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son and whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but will have everlasting life."; and ask Him to come into Your life and take the wheel. There is always hope for the living to be forgiven and be made new as long as we come to Jesus' feet in full repentance.
