My birthday was in three days, June 20th. I walked to school, a nauseous feeling in my stomach. Claire is gone. I have no one. I just have to last 3 more days of school. And then, it's my birthday. I should be excited, but I wasn't. I went to English, and started reading my book.

A hand slammed my book out of mine, and it fell off the desk. My face bolted up to see Owen, Lincoln, and Ryan.

"What?" I growled. I hated people interrupting me while I was reading. Owen just plastered a smirk on his face.

"Sorry Ev," Owen said, a fake pout on his face. When he saw my face, he said, "Aw, you don't like being called Ev?"

I grabbed the book from the floor and smacked his head with it. His eyes widened as he stood there in shock, everyone else laughing at him.

"You bit-" he got cut off my the teacher walking in. Owen mumbled some swears under his breath, and they went back to their seats, glaring at me.

This was going to be an interesting day.

It was second period, and I was glad I got out of there. I spent an hour with Ryan kicking my chair, Lincoln throwing crumpled paper at my desk, and Owen sending me death glares. I walked to my seat, and got my books out for math.

After it was gym. We played dodgeball. Owen, Lincoln, Ryan, and some other bullies were going against me. I mentally groaned. It had to be them. On my team were girls I've seen around the school.

"Go!"

I hated this. Owen was strong, stronger than most kids at this school. Ryan was fast, our top runner. Lincoln was aggressive. He would throw balls at people's heads, and not care at all. 2 people in their team were out, and 3 were out on my team. It was 4 against 3. Mason was on their team too. He was the nicest out of the four. The only reason I know all of them is because I've been on their bad side.

I threw a ball and hit Lincoln in the stomach, and he doubled in pain. Shoot. Lincoln gave me a death glare, and mouthed "You're dead" before walking off.

Sighing, I kept playing. I started getting nervous when Nikki got out, leaving me and Vanessa. Owen, Ryan, and Mason were grinning like they just won a million dollars. Vanessa threw the ball at Mason, and just as Vanessa was about to get another ball, Owen hit her. Mason and she both walked off.

Oh no. What did I do to deserve this? Oh right, I hit Owen. I could see Owen smirking, ready to destroy me. There was no way I can win. I grabbed a ball and waited. I was never a sports person. I dodged a ball Ryan threw, and immediately threw it back at him, hitting his chest.

His face turned into shock and his jaw dropped as the coach blew his whistle, telling him to go. Reluctantly he did.

Owen had two balls in his hand, and I grabbed one more. I might win. I might be able to win. He glared at me, and threw them. I dodged them, and caught one. My smile grew as I realized I'd caught it. I won. Vanessa came up to me and high fived me. Some other girls congratulated me. For a moment, I was actually happy. Then, I remembered Owen and his friends. At least Cathryn wasn't here. She moved.

In the girls locker room, I quickly changed, and I walked to lunch, waiting for Claire to come. But, she wasn't here. All I wanted was her to run up to me, sit down and tell me about how her mom bought her the wrong dress, or laugh at how Mrs. Bailsman said a curse word instead of ash. I was alone.
