"Drew."
Drew. The small little boy that had only fit in my arm. The one that is related to my little Ian.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit you, please don't tell." He looked around, Im guessing to see if anyone saw the car crash into my heel.
"No, no. It's alright sweetie." I smiled as I reached the toy and passed it to him.
"Thank you. And how'd you know my name?" He said looking up at me causing me to stutter.
"Um, I just remember you is all." I smiled, deciding not to lie.
"You know me?" He asked his face confused, obviously because he never met me.
"Yes, when you were just a baby. I'm Hazel." I said looking into his brown almost red eyes.
"Oh." Mark had obviously never mentioned me before this. Drew had the exact face his father had when he was confused, only causing my heart to flutter slightly.
"So, what are you doing under a table by yourself?" I asked, looking into his seeming lonely eyes.
Drew didnt seem to want to respond, because he hid farther into the sheet as people walked by. "Will you tell me if i get under the table and talk?" I asked as i looked down into his bigbrown eyes.
Nodding, he crawls further under the table. Getting on my knee, I crawl under the table. Pulling the sheet a lower to make Drew comfortable, I smile, "So why so lonely here huh?"
Drew wasnt an easy talker, it was obvious he wanted to but he just seemed to know where to start or how to. "Come on, sweetie. I'll wait for you to talk as long as you need."
Looking at his small hot wheel, he starts running it along the floor. "My mom and dad keep arguing. I have no one to play with, my mom and dad come and play games with me, but still."
I could see Drew's eyes getting moist, only causing my heart to break slightly. "Sweetie, parents argue all the time. They just need to discuss whatever they were talking about, it will be okay after, they love each other and you so much." Patting his messy hair, I go to his cheek and wipe away a tear.
"You think so?" Drew said, his voice full of hope.
"I do." I smiled as i sit crossed my legs and ducking in an awkward positon under the table.
Laughing he watches me struggle to get comfortable. "I see you find my discomfort funny." I say laughing myself, finally finding a comfortable way to sit.
"So what game are you playing down here?" I smile, as i lean on my hand looking as he makes car noised , I'm guessing making the car fly as its in the air.
"It's more like a race game." He says, correcting me, adorably.
"Well have you ever heard of Halo?" I asked, knowing the answer, because he dropped the toy instantly.
"Yes, my dad taught me how to play when i was four. He lets me play sometimes, becasue my mom says I should be a kid and play outside instead of inside. i dont think it makes sense." he said as he grabs the car and starts playing again.
"and why doesnt it make sense?" I ask, curious to why he believed it didnt.
"Well, I'm a kid when I play outside, and when i play inside. So I'm still a kid no matter what." Drew said looking at me. Gosh was this kid smart, I thought.
Laughing, I smiled and said "You are actually right on that. But sweetie dont you think its healthier to play outside?"
"Yeah, but I have no one to play with, thats why its better with Halo." he said, oblivious to the heart break he was causing me.
Looking at him, I noticed the similarities between my little Ian and Drew. I knew how they would get along and how they wuld somehow fit perfectly with their innocent sweet personalities. Coming to the decision, I say, "You can have someone to play with. I know a child that would fit absolutely great with you."
Staring at me, "You do?"
"Yep, I'll bring him to you once, but you gotta be patient for a little while alright sweetie?" I smiled as I saw the excitement in his face.
"Cool. Thanks!"
"Drew! Why are you under here -" the voice said as they rose the sheet.
Mark stared at me from above the table. Catching my breath, I looked over at him only causng my heart to flutter slightly. No, dont let him get to you like this. You're a grown woman. I thought.
"Sorry Dad. I was talking to Hazel under here. She started talking about Halo with me." said the newly happy Drew.
"Was she?" Mark said, looking at us both, as if absorbing this picture of us.
"Yep. She said that she-"
"is a big fan too!" I smiled as i turned to look at Drew, signaling him that it would be our secret.
"Oh, that was nice of her, Mister." Mark said, looking at his son's happy face, as if it was a rarity. "Well, we will talk all about this later okay?"
The nickname struck me as he looked right at me. "Come on, Aunt Layla wants to see you. You too." Mark said as he picked up his son and helped me out.
Standing correctly, I walk over to where I see Layla and her round table of her and her bridal party. Nervous, I look aroundand see the familar faces of Jillian, Kim and John.Sitting a few spacesfrom Layla, I saw Andrea, Marks wife.
Greeting everyone and shaking hands, I smile at the warm greetings. Reaching the last guy, who I was guessing was the best man, was a familiar face that I knew I had seen.
"Well hello, there Beautiful. Nice to see you again." He said, with his big blue eyes that reflected the ocean.
Clicking in my head, I smiled and shook his hand, "Hello Garrett."
