"Who was that?" Ian skipped with his little curls bouncing with each hop.
Reaching the party, everyone began to sit in their reserved seats. The family was with Layla and Carter, in the center. Relieved, I sat in the Quart table, with the rest of the wedding party. Smiling, I reach Jillian, John, Kim and Garrett , who had Annett, his daughter, also in the table. Smilling, I sit Ian next to Annett, who had only her fathers eyes.
"Annett, this is Hazel, and her son Ian." Garrett smiles, as he stands and hugs me. Smiling, I feel his hand on the small of my back.
"Ian, this is Garrett, and this is his lovely daughter, Annett." Ian smiles and shakes Garrett's hand which was already out and waves at Annett with a soft smile, causing Annett's porclein cheeks to blush.
"Nice to meet you, Ian. You look nice in your suit, It looks just like my daddys." She smiles, as she rubs in the heel of her shoe on the floor.
"Thank you. My mom picked it out, but I asked her if I could get one of those shirts that have a suit on them, but she said no." Ian says as he looks up at me seriously.
Smiling, I am about to justify myself, until I hear laughter, from the little bubbly voice next to Garrett. "That's funny."
Raising my eyebrow, I smile and laugh at the obvious little crush with the little girl and Ian. Looking up at Garrett, he breathes deeply looking at his little girl
Raising an eyebrow, I smile looking at the two little ones. I could already feel something sturring up. "Hazel, would you like to sit now?" Garrett said smiling softly at me.
Nodding I sat next to Garrett, while Ian and Annett sat together next to me and John. Smiling at the two young ones, I felt something close to my ear.
Chills rose all around my body as I felt hot breath running down my neck, "I forgot to tell you how beautiful you looked today." Garrett's voice smiled over at me.
Blushing at the heat he caused me, I only smiled and blushed. Blushing red, I couldnt help but blush more at the feeling that Garrett brought me. It was sensual, his breath against my neck, his lips so close...
WOAH, I thought. No, no, no. This is too soon. Nope. I needa focus on Ian. Looking up to Ian, who was laughing with the little Annett, was my life, and thats what I need to focus on.
But I felt eyes on me. Looking up at the table full of family, I see Mark's eyes on me. Then on Ian.
Shit.
"What?" Garrett laughed as he drank some champagne.
Oops. "Oh um nothing." I smiled and drank. Mark only continued to stare at me. Gosh, Layla told me. It was obvious.
Clinks of glass got me out of the daze, to look up at Layla, who was smiling brightly and happily.
"I would like to thank everyone who came today. My friends, family, and some unexpected friends," her smile was towards me making me only smile and nod back.
"I'd like to share some news with all you lovely people who decided to share this memory with." Smiling down at Carter, he squeezes her hand kissing it lightly.
"We are expecting. So hopefully we can all gather again for the baby shower." she laughed as everyone clapped and cheered.
Carter rose and smiled at everyone lowering his hands for silence. "Now that we are all caught up, I would like to thank you all for coming. Today was one of the best moments, in my life. To marry the girl of my dreams, to know we are expecting a little piece of heaven. You can say life is pretty great. That from this moment on, life will only continue to give me great days."
Claps filled the room as everyone watched the newlyweds kiss. I, even whistled and cheered. As the wedding planner says, "It is time for the father and daughter dance."
I sigh, and look at Ian. Kissing his head as Layla and her father,Lucas ,came to her with open arms and a teary smile on his face.
Smiling, Layla walks with her father towards the middle of the floor with her fathers arm around her . Standing together, they smile. Bright and joyful, they have a small conversation as the song starts.
Looking at Ian, he smiles at the sight. His eyes shining, and smile pure, he looks up at me as people begin joining in. "Can mommies dance with their sons?"
Smiling, I nod and stand, as he holds my hand and pulls me to the dance floor. Picking him up in my arms, i sway back and forth. Kissing his cheek, I sway with my eyes closed. Feeling Ian's arms around me, I felt complete.
"Mommy, why don't I have a daddy?" Ian's questions only felt harder and harder to answer. Especially, since his father was at the table staring at us.
"Can you please tell me where he is?"
Oh, I thought, if he only knew.
"Your daddy is a very amazing man. He was one of the best people I knew. He was my knight, my joy, and my heart. He always made me laugh the way you always do. He made me smile the way you make me smile. He is an amazing man." I smiled. As he leaned back and smiled at me.
"Why'd you leave him then?"
"Your daddy wanted a son like you, so don't go thinking he didn't. Its just Mommy decided to go away, he wanted to have you, but he just didn't know. "
Ian was smart, and knew exactly what I meant. His eyes were wise as he stared at me. "Will you let me meet him someday?"
Smiling, I grace his face and whisper "Yes." You already have.
"I didn't mean to make you cry, Mommy. I wont see him if you don't want me to." Ian said wiping the tears, I hadn't known escaped.
"No, baby, thats not it. Its just I love you so much," I smiled.
"I love you, too." He smiled hugging me tightly from the rest song.
As the song ended, I put him down and turned to see Mark with Drew.
Oh, shit.
