3 days after of the wedding night, I just went home and spent every second with Ian. Ian was no longer just mine. I wouldn't have him 100% of the time. He would fall in love with his father, just as I had. Soon, I'd be plain mom.

"Mom?" Ian said from behind the register in the book store.

"Yes, Mister?" I smiled as I staked a bundle of books in rows.

"Remember how I said I wanted a Daddy?" His voice was low. He was serious.

Turning and walking off the ladder, I sit next to him. "Yeah, I remember sweetie."

"Well, I didnt mean to make you feel bad. I know you're my mommy all the time. And I dont need a Daddy." he said playing with his shoe lace, scared I was going to be sad from his wanting a father.

"Baby, look at me." His little face glanced as i held his chin and kisses his forehead. "You didnt hurt my feelings. I know you want a Daddy. When I was little, I wanted one too. So it's okay to want a father."

"Will you tell me his name?" He softly asked.

I couldn't tell him yet. Just a few more days. "How about I leave that as a surprise for you? As a small," actually big, "gift?"

"For my birthday, next week?" Te excitement in his voice crushed my heart.

"Maybe." I faked a smile as he threw his arms around my neck and kissed my cheek softly. "Thank you, Mom."

He ran up stairs to get his toys. As I stood, and saw a little head full of brown hair and deep blue eyes. Annett.

"I told my daddy I saw you. He didn't believe me. So, I ran back and came here." Her little voice was lightly out of breath. Smiling she turns to the door, where Garrett barely opens it, looking like a worried parent.

"Anne! What are you doing? You know not to run away from me!" Garrets face was flushed with worry. He leaned over and grabbed her arms checkig and kisses her head.

Anne looked down at the floor, as she felt shunned. "I'm sorry. I just saw Hazel and Ian, and I told you."

Garrett looks up at me or the first time, and his frown falters a bit. A smile rises. But he looks back as his daughter and kisses her forehead. "No more of that running off. Okay?"

"Okay, Dad."

"Hello Garret and Anne," I smiled as i leaned against the counter.

"Hello." Annes small voice said, which contrasted her fathers deep voice.

"Sweetie, Ian is upstairs, do you wanna go upstairs and say hello?" I smiled.

The little girl didnt take time and ran upstairs.

Smiling Garrett looked at me, "So, how have you been? We never got to planning our date." He leaned against the counter with our faces only inches apart.

"Well, I guess I was just waiting for you to come and find me." I smiled. I hadn't forgot about Garrets promise of a date, but was too caught up in the kiss from Mark.

"This weekend?" He smiled, lightly pressing his hand against mine.

It tingled lightly, but nothing compared to the shock of electricity between Mark's kiss.

It was an hour after Garret left, that I got another surprise visit. Mark at the foot of my counter.

"We need to talk."

"No, we don't." I said rolling my cart into the isles of books.

Stacking the books and avoding eye contact, Mark cotuined to speak. "Hazel, please. I need to talk about that kiss. And our son."

His hand reached for mine and he turned me towards him.

I always caught my breath at the sight of him. His eyes bored into me, pleading for me to speak.

"What do you need to say Mark?" I didn't understand how difficult it was to steal away my hand from his warm one. So I allowed it to remain there.

"Hazel, I don't care why anymore, I just want to spend time with him."

My heart was beating fast. The image of my son and his father caused my heart to skip a beat.

"Please, Hazel. Please."

The desperation in his voice caused me to flinch. Never have I heard such pain... Such fear.

"Next week is Ian's sixth birthday. You will be coming. No matter what." I i said looking up at him. Relief filled his eyes and he smiled. Gosh, that smile.

"Thats a date."

"Not ours," I said, stepping back.

"Hazel, about our kiss- I think-"

"It was a mistake." I said. Yanking my hand away.

"Mistake?"

"Yes." Pain filled me as the single word fell through my tongue.

"I don't believe you. I felt how you kissed me, I know you feel something for me too." Mark took a step and graced my cheeks. "I know you feel something." His lips kissed the corners of my mouth making me arch in response.

His lips were utterly and unbelievably enticing. My knees trembling I gripped his shoulders.

"Hazel, gosh, I missed you so much."

"I missed you too," my voice was barely above a whisper as he kissed down my neck.

It was years of yearning and wanting him. Missing him. But he missed me. He- was kissing me.

Why? Why all of a sudden? He was with Andrea after years of being with her. He was still with her.

"Stop. Get off." I said, pushing him away as I stepped away behind the cart.

"Hazel, I'm sorry. I just felt ... Something. Pulling me-"

"Get out."

"Haze?"

"You are still invited next weekend. Bring a present its Ian's birthday. Now go."

Mark was running his hands through his hair. "Haz-"

"Go!"

He looked up at me, then left.
